Default Help with cam???

So I bought a short block 302 to use as a base to build from. Little is know of the origins of the block. Trying to figure out what cam is in it has me confused. The numbers on the cam are [ 931 CCD] and [ D2JE 6250 CA]. Google is being less then helpful finding useful info on the cam. Best I got was 351w marine cam or possibly ca emissions ho cam. Thanks for any help.

Also the distributer gear looks to be pitched the wrong way. Maybe that's me I have not been in an ford motor in a long time only based of images from the net.

The cam gear does look like it is meant for reverse rotation. You might be onto something with the marine cam. It might be a left hand rotation marine engine.

If so, replace the cam, timing chains, and distributor gear for typical automotive stuff and rock on. You don’t have to worry about replacing the crank as marine engines just run a “reversed” firing order.

If it was in fact a marine engine, I'd take the disassembled bock and have it thoroughly cleaned.

The block is new, never been installed from ford. It's a xxx casting block but has no vin code stamped on it. Like you said I'm pretty sure a new cam set an ill be good. Now to decide on a cam...thinking trick flow stage 2.
