Default Election results?

Um... I just read on CNN that Granholm won? I suppose there's not much that can be done about it now but wait and watch what happens.

I've got 18 years on the Corps... mandatory retirement isn't until 30 yrs... hmmmmm....

I really didn't care who took the governors office, but think the outcome is ironic.

Granholm has established that her strategy to improve the economy in Michigan is to create a new identity based on science and technology (good for me as a biochemist) to decrease our focus on industry (bad for UAW workers). She has also stated that her primary goal is to socialize healthcare (bad for nurses in the healthcare union). Yet Granholm got most of her votes from endorsements by the UAW and healthcare union (not to mention the teachers union who she has screwed over this past term also).

Guess the unions are on self-destruct.

I found ironic and suprizing that the same group of voters that just re-elected women to 2 of the highest political positions in the state also voted to ban affirmitive action.

Dare I say that voters think people should make it on merit and not because of gender, race or religion?

I don't. If the system works right the correct person gets elected regardless of race, gender, etc. without the necessity for and equilibration factor (ie. affirmative action). I'd say this is a perfect example of why affirmative action is no longer necessary.

I'm not familiar with tiago pass, but I've been up to Bridgeport (Mountain Warfare Training Center) in the winter, and there's some SERIOUS snow going on.
