I'd just visit every brewery along the way and call it good.

Yeah we went there last year when ( or maybe 2 years ago) I think it's just called mill creek, we are actually starting at the campground just down the road from there

The whole Leelanau/Traverse area is pretty awesome. Leland is a cool little town with some great scenery and restaurants. Suttons Bay is nice, Lake Leelanau is nice. Traverse City is great, lots of nice shops, awesome restaurants, breweries, and views. A drive up Mission Peninsula is always nice, make sure to drive one coast on the way up and the other on the way back. Stop at Jolly Pumpkin for some great food and microbrews. Good wine too according to my wife. Torch Lake is awesome if you have access to a boat. Elk Rapids is another nice beach town, as are Charlevoix and Petoskey. Really that whole region is filled with towns with nice tourist shops, good restaurants, and good scenery. Mackinaw City and Island are always fun too. I think the island is pretty slow after Labor Day, but if the weather is good I don't see how you could go wrong.
