Default Cab removal

Anyone know a good way to pull the cab off a vehicle without breaking your back?

I don't have an engine lift, or much else laying around...

Guy wants to get it on Wednesday... thinks for guys can move an extended cab from full-size dodge...

I'm all ears

Thick tree limb and a chain fall.

Run a solid item through the cab and attach chain or strap to the ends of the solid item. That way the strap or chain doesn't pull inward on the cab.

I thought about that too, but I can't get to the only tree worth strapping to.

How would you Jack it up that high? Needs to either clear motor or I need to pull the box and go that route...

Do you have a kids swing set ? One of the ones with 4x4 legs and 4x6 beam ? I used the kids set more than they did to lift stuff.

Guy is picking it up..... They have to load it. I'd say worse case scenario get some beers and recruit some meatheads to handle that thing.

Once again, not accessible. I thought about that too. I probably should have put some of the scenarios on here that I ran through my mind.

Guy is coming from charlevoix... I have a feeling this will fall through, but I'm not giving myself a hernia if I get roped into moving it.

This.

Jack the cab up front side or back side 1st then slide a 4x4 under it and repete for the side you didn't do 1st. Then you can jack the 4x4 up and put them on blocks, jack stands, or whatever else you have laying around. Roll the frame out of the way and the guy picking it up can back the trailer he is using to haul the cab away on under it and lower it down.

Make sure to use 8' 4x4's so you will have room to move the frame out and the trailer in.

If I was home I would say bring it over and I would take it off with the forklift but I will not be back in town till Sunday evening.

Yank the box. If its not a ford they shouldn't be too hard to take off. If its a ford cut the bolts... They never come out.

I'm not wasting any extra of my time for the money I asked for the thing if I have to help remove.

This might be the one time Craigslist bites me in the ass.

Oops my quote didn't work. Remove the box so you can roll it out that way. It's faster than pulling the front.

I've had about a 90-95% show up rate after we set up a time (I guess I screen pretty well). How often they are on the time we agreed on is another story

The box is going to get scraped with the rest of the truck isn't it? If so cut the bolts and flip it off in to the grass or get a couple buddy's to help lift it off. Then jack the cab up. The box is going to be easier to move then the cab.

Actually, the box is pretty nice. I guess I'll unbolt that first.

I got beer if anyone wants to show up to help on Wednesday if this guy actually decides to show up.

If scrapping the frame, and if you have a way to cut it, support the frame in front and behind the cab and slice the frame rails, then pull the back half of the truck away. They get a bonus chunk of rusty crap with the cab!
