Default 98 tahoe mystery piece fell out of dash

driving the tahoe the other day and this piece fell on my feet cant see anywhere it would go anyone know what it is, where it goes, and how to re install it so it doesnt fall out?

didnt notice anything but didnt need defrost windows were already clear and it was just a short trip into town to grab parts
