Default 1996 Suburban K2500 - $2000

1996 K2500 Suburban, 4x4, 454 ci (7.4L) engine, 231K miles
Great hunting/tow vehicle, recently rebuilt/replaced transmission/transfer case, tires, battery. Interior seats in excellent condition, aftermarket stereo, all controls (windows/locks, wipers, cruise, lights, etc) work great. 2" lift. Minimal rust, straight body. Runs but could use some engine work.
Not gonna be a jerk about it and try to say it's perfect, but it is in solid overall condition. I just don't need such a heavy duty vehicle anymore so I don't feel like investing the time and energy into that task.
I would rebuild the engine before much serious use. Oil pressure is lower than I'd want at idle, at about 10 pounds, but its up at 40+ at highway speeds. There is an occasional lifter tick. It also has a cracked exhaust manifold on the driver's side, but those are cheap and available and hasn't affected performance at all.
Please contact me here for details, and let's talk about the price. I will monitor this page fairly regularly. Vehicle is in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Thanks,
Dave

I got the same truck and love it. I wouldn't sell mine for 2k but I don't have near the miles either. Seems like a good deal.

What lift is it?

It's just 2" aftermarket blocks in the rear with a slight torsion bar crank up front. Tracks straight, rides smooth and doesn't wear out the tires. I've always used those BFG Trails TAs, best tires for the vehicle as far as I'm concerned. They are also a size or two over stock, "E" rated weight class if I recall.
I can't honestly jerk a buyer around and try to get the $4500 or so that I could if the engine were in good shape. So, I priced it at $2k and would hope someone would take it, be willing to put some cash into the engine and beat the snot out of it for the next few years. It has served me well, my friends call it "Big Red" and I hate to let her go, but why keep such a beast if I don't have anything to tow right now?

you may have to tow something in the future?

LOL. I have toyed around with selling mine. it would be nice to get 5-6k out of it... my wife loves it. I like it. BUT, all we tow is snowmobiles and quads and bikes. (my ZJ limited will tow that stuff) I like the idea of having a truck, but really dont need it nor would I really use the bed for anything but a place to throw stuff. (dunno why but when I have a truck the beds are always full of junk)

Anyway, as for the lift I have 285's on mine with no lift and every once in a while I get a little rubbing. I have been afraid to do the keys/blocks in the back because I was afraid of the tire wear and rougher ride.

BUT, you said it didnt hurt you any huh? how long ago did you do it? (miles wise?)

I didn't even use keys, just cranked up the torsion bars about 1.5 inches. Also cut the back corner of the front air damn because that was the only place they rubbed on hard turns going over bumps.
I have never had uneven wear, I have always been a believer in tire rotation, regular oil changes, etc. I took good care of it, made sure that it was well maintained because I get on some lonely back woods trails with my birddogs and would hate to break down miles from civilization. Anyway, that, and I always made sure it was religiously aligned.
I did that right away when I got the truck, so I've put about 150,000 miles on it with that little lift.
I may have to tow something in the future but I have to concentrate on the now. Divorce will do that to you.

Had a question on the interior that I'm not sure went out, so I'll post it here. The interior is a maroon cloth velour, in great shape. Seats are excellent, no sagging, no tears, no stains, no cig burns, non-smoker. Absolutely nothing wrong with them.
Some of the soft trim on the doors got chewed up a bit by a birddog that I left in the car. I covered the doors between the bottom of the glass and the door handles with a color-matching canvas material. Very close match, looks near stock. Carpet is good, for 230K.
