To the Christians in this thread, for the sake of argument, if you knew of an atheist who had blasphemed jesus, god, and the holy spirit, would you continue to try to convert him/her, or move on to the next one, since he had committed the one unforgivable sin?

You would have to define 'blasphemed'. In order to do so, in context to the verse you are referencing, you have to be a believer. If you're getting this from a video from a couple years ago, the authors were way off on understanding.

Just like the words 'I accept Jesus into my heart' aren't magical and you have to have the act of acceptance, so is just saying 'I blaspheme the ......' It's an act and, even so, is not unforgivable.

I hope more people like "you" could understand why Christians reach out to others for the very reason what you posted and not get offended.
I wish more people like "you" could understand we don't want to be reached out to.

Then honestly, and not picking on you personally Chad, if you don't want to be reached out to, you should stay out of a political thread and forum. It's kinda like going to Ford Field and not wanting to hear about football.

It's not a matter of not wanting to hear about it, or being willing to discuss it, and i don't actually feel like anyone here pushes it outside of Aber, and even Aber doesn't really jam it down anyone's throat, he's just very strong in his convictions and won't take a second to believe that other people can and do believe differently than him and may not want to be changed. I was referring more towards real life people.

I don't mind the discussions, I enjoy them from time to time. I've gained a tremendous amount of respect for Dave Kerwin throughout the years due to the discussions like this. LC4X is quickly earning similar (well, he'll never be like Dave is to me) levels of respect for his ability to discuss why HE chooses what he chooses and why HE didn't chose the beliefs that someone like myself, or greasemonkey, or Sova may have. He's done a very good job of removing the emotion and pushiness often associated with these discussions, and I respect that.

Being "reached out to" or "hearing about religion" or "discussing" are ENTIRELY different things.

Big time!
Makes sense. I kinda read (misread) it as you didn't want to hear any of the comments here. All in all, I see some pretty good discussions for and against. I tend to get irritated when the name calling begins but for the most part, they are a good read.

Lets put it this way. I see you' re on the train tracks and I know the train is coming but you don't. I will do everything to convince you to get off the tracks. I can't grab you and force you to do anything but I will try and convince you it's time to get off the tracks and save yourself.
As Christians we see and know the train is coming but non believers don't even know their on the tracks, let alone that there is a train coming.
If you thought that your life was in danger wouldn't you want to get off the tracks?

Let me put it this way. I CHOOSE to be on the tracks. I dont WANT YOU to try and convince me to get off the tracks. It is MY life MY choice.

As a Non-Believer There is no magical train for me, I DONT BELIEVE that it is there, no matter how many times you tell me it is there I don't believe it is.

Just like no matter how many times I tell you it isn't there you are not going to believe me. I'm not going to try and convince you to get on the tracks with me. I'm asking you to stop trying to convince me to get off the tracks.

You've offered to show it to me, I've declined. I find it offensive that you can not respect that I am not interested in being shown. I have respected your beliefs enough to understand you have them and I am not trying to convince you otherwise.
I am using "you" and "I" figureatively.

I'd rather have God and be a dummy than to not have God and be the smartest person on the planet.
Because without God you are nothing at all.

When I worked at the same company as her, the train made several stops. It was no different than when she was at Ferris. I can only imagine what happened at her next place of employment.

I have a copy of her resume somewhere....I can't call her, because everytime I see her resume I can't stop thinking about the train.
