1987 Chevy K10 4x4, SWB! - $1300 / Trade
1987 Chevy K10 4x4
Short Wheelbase (Reg. Cab, 6' Bed)
4.3L TBI V6
Approx. 55k ORIGINAL miles.
This truck was purchased new in 1987 by Lake Superior State University as a fleet truck for the physical plant department. It was a plow truck most of it's life. It had a Western 6 1/2' plow installed on it since it was new. (It hasn't had the plow now in about 4 years)
I have the original window sticker, and all of the original owner paperwork, including the LSSU documentation.
It was bought in '03 (?) by a guy in the UP to use as a plow truck for his resort.
I bought the truck/plow from him in 2008. It was driven from the UP all the way down to Grand Rapids. I used it as a daily driver / work truck for 4 years, I removed the plow after I bought it and sold the plow.
New fuel tank, sending unit, pump, etc.
New rear brakes (drums, shoes, spring kit, wheel cyl's. and lines)
New upper and lower ball joints, u-joints, wheel bearings and TRE's.
Runs like a new truck. Does not leak a drop of anything. Shifts like a new truck.
Frame is rock solid - still mostly black
4WD system works like it should - Front diff was rebuilt prior to my owning it. I believe the transfer case and trans. were too, but I don't have any proof.
Rusty sheetmetal and floors. Floors were patched years ago and rusted again.
Back brakes do not work. I installed all the parts a while back, then found that it appears the proportioning valve is stuck.
Needs tires. Excellent tread, but are weatherchecked. Pass. side front has a slow leak.
Has not had an alignment since the front end rebuild, so should probably have that done too.
Front frame rail was tweaked when the truck was only a few years old (plow hit curb), but was fixed and tracks straight, however the steering wheel is off-centered.
I am firm at $1300. Rip the body off and you have an extremely solid frame and drivetrain here. I am only selling to raise some cash to do a few things to my F-150.
However, I will consider trades. Would love an older bronco, Jeep, Trucks, Sports cars, or a decent cargo van. No imports. No minivans. No passenger sedans. In other words, I don't want your Dodge Intrepid. Some projects may be acceptable too, depending on what it is.
If you have any questions, PM me or respond here and I'll get back to you right away.
I painted the lower 2/3's of the truck black a few years ago, which actually was a huge improvement and helped cover rust. But be warned - it is rustier than it looks!
