Default Hood Won't latch

2001 WJ.

For some reason the hood will not fully latch, it will catch on the secondary one (that you pull with the lever to open it) but not the main one that keep it fully down.

It has enough travel, i even screwed in the leveling adjusters to make sure.

The latch does not seem to have any fore and aft play in it.

Is there a spring or latch mechanism in the primary that is connected to the interior pull that may be causing issues?

Lube fo sho, then wurk it around with the shaft of your tool. Once it be well lubricated try popping it in again

Had the same thing goin on with an XJ, took apart, cleaned and lubed, put back together and same prob. I ended up shortening that fat wire that goes from center bracket to latch on the side that wouldnt hook about an inch by bending a "Z" into it. Worked fine then.

Idk if your WJ has the exact same latch set up tho
