I had the good fortune to tour the property yesterday with the owner and the OCPR director. The short story is this is well worth our effort to support.

There are 2 more township meetings that we need to attend.

August 13th & 14th. Please put it on your calendar.

I left a comment. I'll probably get to the one on the 13th, but won't be able to make the 14th.

Im so glad the next two meetings are not on my late work days. sneaking out early and explaining the next day where I was is tough...lol
Ill be at the next two meetings for sure!!!

And like ridin dirty said we need locals to help combat the "where do you live" statements.

We have an unbelievable opportunity here guys. Please come to these meetings and show your support It does not matter if you speak in them or just sit and listen, theres a great strength in numbers, just having a LARGE group in favor is a very powerful statement...lets fill the room with people in favor.

Why isn't the instant response to this "from far far away, and I want to drive all this way to spend money in your town."

Use Mears as an example. That place wouldn't even be a town if it were not for the ORV area.

Fair question and it will have merit at this meeting because the township board needs to know that it brings vitality to the township. The reason I have been asking for locals is that to my knowledge, no one from within the city or township limits has been there or spoken up. The locals are complaining that everyone who wants it doesn't have to deal with it every day.

BY THE WAY......................
I was complimented 3 different times about the professionalism of the user group and how well they maintained themselves and brought a "voice of reason" to the meetings. Apparently it even came up in the OCPR staff meetings. GOOD JOB BOYS!!!!!

Would it be beneficial to have the chamber of commerce from "big ORV ares" write letters to the Oxford CoC in support? Maybe they could shed light on exactly how much cash flow is dependent on ORV use.

An example would be Mears, West Branch, drummond, etc. Maybe even Tellico, as an example of lack of cash flow from an ORV area being shut down?

That information really needs to go out to the community and business owners. The board will be looking to the citizens for approval, we need those citizens to understand exactly what you just mentioned, especially the business owners. The board gets elected by the people and they don't get re elected by making good decisions but still pissing people off.

We need to get a letter like that in the Oxford paper.

I left some positive comments on their Facebook page. I figured I'd get the conversation started with so positivity. maybe if the first hundred or so comments are positive towards the park they'll shut it down.

And by shut it down I mean maybe the people who started the fb page will shut down the page if it looks like no one agrees with them. after reading it again it could read that I want them to shut the park down.
