I can't make it this week. The farmers market and concert in the park were going on last week. Parking was a little cramped but there were still spots across the street. Thanks again Jim for holding our feet to the fire and getting people out there to support/advocate for our sport.

I live less than 10 miles from there, you're welcome to carpool from here. If not let me know where to meet up before.

My plan is to leave The Burning Oak by about 6:15 to be able to park and make the meeting. After the meeting we are going back and having drinks and checking out the classic cars (weather permitting).

I'm good to meet at the Burning Oak @ 5:00 ish.. I will probably drive separate as I don't know if I will go back for a beer afterwards.

I suggest getting there a little earlier. Last week there were displays to review prior to the meeting and some discussion. In addition, if they do what they did last week, they passed out little clickers that allowed people to vote on suggestions. Assuming a larger crowd and not enough clickers, WE WANT TO GET THE MOST CLICKERS.

It was different than last week. Lots of emotion and I don't think much was accomplished other than to say there was support for and opposition against the park.

What I do know is this. There is a comment page on the Oakland County Parks & Rec. page. I need to get the link and post it so people can post positive things. In addition, there is the presentation to the township board on August 13 & 14th. Again, need to verify the dates.

I suspect that will be the more important meeting where there will be people threatening the local officials with "I voted for you and if you approve this I'm going to vote you out". SOOOOOOOOOOO local Oxford residents who are pro ORV REALLY NEED TO SHOW UP.

They presented a time line of applications, approvals, grants, purchase of the property and park opening. At today's current timeline, the opening of the park would be no sooner than May 2016.

It's not just me Dale. I suspect there were +20 pro ORV supporters there last night. I'm just a little more vocal than most but everyone is important.

Oxford is a bit too far for me to make it for a meeting on a weeknight, but I left a positive comment.

Is there a way to view all the comments?

x2

I made sure to note that this is an area that I never frequent, ie. spend any money, and if there was an off-road park there that would change.

Don't let Jim kid you - he did most of the talking on behalf of the 4x4 community at the last two meetings, and represented our user group well while the rest of us provided moral support. For those of you that just quietly said "Uh-Oh" to that news, remember that the "real Jim" is a business professional in contrast to his rather blunt/direct/inyourface Internet persona, and actually goes looking for people to win over to his side of the argument with a quiet conversation after the meeting.

BTW, I don't think it can be stressed enough the importance of wheelers in the Oxford and immediate areas to show up in support of this park. One of the very first comments the people in opposition make in reaction to one of our comments in favor is... "Yeah, and where do you live?"
