If you can't afford to suddenly lose employment there I'd make the jump before they shut the lights off.

If you can afford to suddenly lose employement I'd stick around and see what happens. Like someone else said you may well end up being the king and be in a position to make the company rebound.

Thing that sucks is if there were 11 people who did the same job as you got laid off, they too are applying for the same positions you will be. Unless they have already got those positions.

But I agree that if you are the last one you must have been the most valuable.

And then their was one.

My neighbor on the other side of the wall was laid off today.

Now just me in my position,

This leaves 4 girls in the office, the branch manager, an estimator and I left over, from what used to be 20 plus in the office,

Fuck Michigan and this market place. This state is so un friendly for business it is crazy.

Hey how are we going to bail out Detoilet.

How are we going to bail out the entire state.

Michigan will be like North Dakota before long.

I am thinking about Texas, for a new home,

105 years. Probably makes books or something.

Can blame it on ineffective management.

Doesn't matter if you're the one to turn out the lights if you don't get to turn them on the next day somewhere else.

Not sure what industry you are in, but of business is tanking that bad in the last 2yearz when most businesses and entire industries have been getting stronger I wouldn't feel too good about the company.

I'm thinking of relocating, but mostly because I'm tired of living in a state who's fortunes are tied to Detroit.

Never hurts to toss out a few resumes.

I was in a similar situation in 2007, left and 6 months later the doors closed forever.
Same situation and time frame. I was already working a second full time job overlapping the first full time job so the transition was easy. The second better paying full time shut there doors 3 months after I quit the first.

I said F it and started driving truck. This is the first job where I don't have another job on top of the first due to the dot regulations. I hate all the sitting around, but the paychecks are nice for the hours I do work.

Sounds like you know your way around the place. So make a few connections if things do go bad. If they don't you made some new friends to discuss espionage with.

This was my old job in March of this year. Company lost a huge GM contract and made cut backs. I was let go first. Shortly after that 6 out of 10 program managers, buyers and system engineers jumped ship to GM. That left 3 people to cover the works of 7. That's not fun! I'm glad I was let go when I was. I love my new job and company, a huge tier 1 supplier and really enjoy the almost 20k raise.

Id run as soon as possible.

Well I stayed and we are big pimpin now. Hiring people again. We have about 22 million for contracts on the books and things are looking up. I had went on a few interviews back then. I am pretty happy I stuck it out. If I pick up one more contract my cock will be huge. Figuratively speaking. Big work in the area still out there to bid. Good future outlook.

Now look back through the wonderful web advice you got from a 4x4 website. Almost everyone said jump ship, but I'm happy for u that you made the right call, and stayed on. Loyalty does still exist, and pay off!

Three thousand dollar a year raise and a two thousand dollar year end bonus. I'll take it.
