Default Should I stay or Should I go

The company I work for has been slowly declining in volume of sales since the start of the Obama administration. 2011 was an incredibly damaging year for this 105 year old company. In the branch office I work out of there were 20 plus office employee's and 13 of them were doing what I do. We are now down too two of us. I was told by the branch manager that the other guy will be laid off in the next 30 days, panic has in suede in the office, no one is happy. The branch manager is speaking heresy against the church in the office, talking openly about going out to lunch with a foremer employee of our office who is now working for the competition. Speaking openly about opening a (or) buying a small competition in the area.

There will soon be just me in my position, the numbers work out that I can justify my existence, I have another medium sized project that I will likely get a contact for this coming week,

I believe I can find another job reasonably easy. Who knows though. Times are hard for every one.

I can not maintain my life style with my current cost load, house two cars kid in college etc etc.

Jump ship before it goes down?

Ride it out paddle like hell, and possibly come out on the top of this office?

Should I stay or should I go????????

Stay.....they went from thirteen to down to now....you. That speaks volumes about YOU. When shit hits the fan dead weight gets tossed. You obviously were the one dude that truly kicked ass in your position/department. When things pick back up you will be at the top, probably promoted and thought very highly of.

Look for another opportunity but don't jump ship for the sake of jumping ship. Make sure it's what's best for you and yours.

I would start looking around. It's always better to find a new job while you are still working.

This is what I would do. It is better to take your time and find the right job while you are still getting a paycheck than to wait til you are on unemployment. If your place of work turns around and you decide to stay you aren't out anything.

You have a better grasp on whether or not the company will recover than we do.

I was in a similar situation in 2007, left and 6 months later the doors closed forever.

You will get a better position elsewhere if you are still working. I suggest actually looking what is out there in your field and actually interview if they ask you in. Then you really have a clue if moving on to a new job is something you should do. Any time you question your current job or company you should look around, it does not mean you have to leave, but it let's you know what is out there and what you are worth on the market.

If you are, look on the bright side, you will still have a drown worm.

Do what's best for you and your family.

I'm also a fan of doing things on your own terms, not waiting around to just see what happens which can put you on your ass. If you can find something better out there, take it.
