Default Is God shellfish?

I don't get it. Why would he take somebody so young, so full of life, somebody that would do anything to help others. I know they say God has a plan for everybody, and when people pass away, it's their time, but I just don't get it. I've heard God is always right. I've heard God never makes mistakes. I've been a Catholic my whole life, 21 years. I was brought up in the church, and someday plan to raise my kids in the church as I was. But right now, I am really questioning everything.

A very close friend of the family recently passed away. She had just turned 50 earlier this year. She came home from work, was getting ready for bed, and her husband heard a loud "thunk" come from the bathroom. He went to check on her, and she was foaming at the mouth. He called the neighbor, and then 911. They, the paramedics, revived her 5 times, but they just couldn't keep her with us.

I just don't get it.

If you believe in God and heaven and what not... She went to a far better place. Wouldn't that make you the selfish one?

Oh... and before you start getting butt hurt about the replies to your extremely emotional questions... Just remember that you initiated this debate. If you aren't willing to see answers you don't like (which is very likely given your emotional state after the loss of a friend) you should delete the thread.

I know I will probably get a good mix of replies. I know there are those that believe, and those who don't. I don't tell those who don't believe they are full of it and are dumb. I don't preach. People that do that, I want to hit.

I believe she went to a better place, but why so soon? Why was it "her time" when she had so much more to live for?

It's a step that every single one of us will have to make. No one on this Earth will escape that fate. Only after we die will we learn the answers to the questions that man has been asking for thousands of years (which organized religions have arrogantly said they know for the same amount of time). She found out the answers to those questions before any of us did. In that way I envy her and the rest of our beloved who have passed.

Death is as big a force in this world as life itself. You can sit and question the why, when and how it occurred but it won't change anything. It's not your turn and you'll never get an answer.

What you can do is be thankful that you got to share your life with them and got to know them while they were here. Honor their memory and thank God for the time you had with them. You never know. You might be reunited with them tomorrow.

Never did I think I would get some kind of closure on here. I guess with the emotions running high, the sadness turned into a little bit of anger and many questions were asked.

I agree with everything that you just said, except for that last sentence! With the loss of this person, it has really opened my eyes that life is beautiful, and nothing should ever be taken for granted. You can have everything one day, and then nothing the next.

As much as I believe she is in a better place, it's just hard to accept what happened.

It's supposed to be that way.

Even if we knew all the answers and that heaven exists and all that... we would still miss those people in our day to day lives. How you feel after someone passes tells you exactly how much that person really meant to you.

Hang in there bud. Everything happens for a reason, some reasons we understand and some we don't.

Good or bad, I went through this at age 17 when my best friend drowned while I was with him. The thing that tore me up for some time is that 10 minutes before he died, we were laughing about how he looked like a Pillsbury dough boy with the heavy clothing he had on, which is what ultimately took him down. The other hard part is that he really didn't want to go hunting that day because the weather was so bad but I talked him into it.

It taught me that life is precious and can be gone when you least expect it. So, I have tried to live my life with a balance of having fun while at the same time trying to be conservative. It's also the reason I may never be able to fully retire, as I haven't saved every penny.

The best advice I can give is to remember the good times with your friend.

I have lost many family members. More at the time, that were my generation than my mothers. My sister was 29 many cousins. I have had a few accidents that my survival is almost unexplainable. I say almost because I know GOD. Do I miss my friends and family, that passed yes. Remember your friend, it's ok to miss her and question why. But remember that it's not our plan. But Gods. Ask yourself if you are a better person from knowing her than if you'd not met.
Right now I have questions. Why did I survive my accidents only to find out this week I have a large mass in my abdomen . My sister died from a ruptured cyst.

Sorry for you loss.

Just remember that God reminds us everyday that our time on this earth is temporary, and for some reason he seems to take the best of what we got on this earth sometimes to spend eternity living with him in a better place.

If a father is walking through life with his children; and if one day one of the children dies due to unexpected illness; do you blame the father and say the he is selfish because his child died? Or does the family turn to the father and ask for him to love and support them through their time of sadness and need?

I was reminded of this from this thread:

"Lord during my darkest hour I lean on you. You are all that I have. At the end of the day, GOD is still in control," Fulton tweeted. "Thank you all for your prayers and support. I will love you forever Trayvon!!! In the name of Jesus!!!"

Tracy Martin, Trayvon's father, tweeted, "Even though I am broken hearted my faith is unshattered I WILL ALWAYS LOVE MY BABY TRAY," he wrote.

I won't go into the religious aspect, because- well, you know- but at least she didn't suffer a long, debilitating illness.

When I go- I would prefer it to be quick.
