Default World War Z

Anyone see the movie?

I picked up the book in the airport last week and am 2/3 done. I hope the movie has more suspense, action and horro than the book... I thought they were "fast" zombies on the commercial.

EDIT: The movie trailer sounds nothing like the book. The book is a collection of interviews a decade after the war ends, telling the stories of a couple dozen key players in the global war on zombies. The movie trailer/synopsis says it is the story of one man and his family searching for a cure. WTF! Mel Brooks wouldn't be proud.

I've heard the book is not at all an accurate representation of what the movie would become and that you'll have to forget what you read when you sit down to watch the movie. I've seen the movie and it was entertaining.

I thought the movie was a major let down. The trailer shows the only semi-cool parts.

I feel the opposite. I thought the trailer showed the most over the top, hard to believe parts, while the rest of the movie was intense, enjoyable, and pretty well done. I've read the book numerous times and really like it, but the movie has little in common with it. If anything, the movie is sort of a prequel to the book. Some people haven't liked the movie but I really enjoyed it. Lots of action and not nearly as ridiculously over the top as I expected based on previews. I mean it's still a zombie action movie, but it didn't have me going "oh come on!" like many would.

So in the movie they were creepers, not sprinters?

I always reflect back now to the time when everyone said a .22 was the best weapon for a zombie apocalypse because of readily available ammunition

I liked the book and the movie but the movie doesn't follow the book story line at all. I thought it was a good movie entertaining enough. Did anyone else catch that the radical Muslims were the downfall of Israel ? Was this intentional or purely coincidental ? I personally think it was a not to subtle message.

I haven't seen the movie but have heard very mixed reviews from those that have (either it was great or it sucked). I plan to eventually see it but will probably have to wait until it's on DVD.

The book was great and the audiobook was AWESOME. By far one my favorite audiobook that I've ever listened to. I love that they actually got different actors to do all the different voices of the interviews.

If you are a fan of the We're Alive zombie podcast, you would probably like the WWZ audiobook.

The book was only the idea that sparked a movie...of course they're not going to make a documentary movie about AFTER a zombie apocalypse

Although the book was pretty good I thought; it was a sequel, or sorts, to the Zombie Survival Guide anyway. Which was a how to survive, and had some stories in the back about zombie "encounters"; those stories spawned the next book

That said....zombies scare the mofin` shit outta me and I cannot watch any of the movies with zombies in them lol

I read the book a week or two before the movie came out and was thoroughly pleased that the movie was different from the book. I plan on buying the movie when it comes out on DVD. If you haven't seen it go out and watch it.

The shambling, slow zombies are just boring and a joke to me.

Sprinters the likes of World War Z and 28 Days Later scare the all living fukc out of me. Having a situation like Resident Evil with things like Lickers and Nemesis... Fuck you all.

I used to dream about zombie apocalypse every night. No joke. 2006 work was getting extremely straining and I often felt overwhelmed with unachievable expectations (kind of like escaping a horde of zombies) In every dream I was the hero though, always with unlimited firepower, always coming into the town and helping to rescue the stranded living.

Then in January 2007 my company announced they were closing our site (Shawn and others remember this day). That night I dreamt of the zombie apocalypse again, but this time I was in a small 1 room shack in the middle of a field with my son. 100s of zombies were slowly encroaching leaving us no exit. I looked in my chamber and had only 1 round left. I always thought that if it came down to it I would shoot myself in the head so I couldn't be converted to a zombie; but in this case I had to choose whether I would "save" my son's soul or save my own. That was the last zombie dream I ever had.
