Get your passports for any American's that don't have them already.
If it's your first time into Canada and you have a DUI or DWI on your record there is a chance you will be denied entry. They are getting more relaxed now, but at one time Canadian Customs were very strict with this and would turn you around and send you back.
I so want to go to this and see the one area of my home province I haven't been to.
Sounds like a great time and I'll have tons of vacation time I have to burn up at the end of September.

Be a BOSS and rent the cottage! Then rent out the extra space to the people who wait until the last minute. =profit!

I left a voicemail over a week ago with them and they just called today. Glad I was able to answer the phone!

We tried that earlier. It's been rented, and will be rented until some time in October by a road crew.

Shack up with some stinky road workers? Just trying to help! Looks like a tent is in your future. The first couple years we went we packed everything in my tj and would stay up there for that whole week. It was awesome with 6" of snow!

Seems like there will be plenty of room in your Taj Mahal on wheels ;)

Actually we will take our truck camper. I just wonder if the gutless wonder can lug that thing and the fat pig JK up there.

We did the tent thing last year. It got down below freezing at night and our tent was a summer tent. The little heater we had didn't do a damn thing to keep it warm.

after a couple years living out of the tj we had a 1985 class c motor home and we flat towed the jeep up there. It actually worked pretty well except when we would leave we would go right and all the way to the lcbo and turn around so we could get going as fast as possible so we could make it up mile long hill. Ah the good ol days!

I didn't think it was cold last year.

Another thing to look into for crossing if you have children. A few years ago everyone needed a passport, kids included. Then they changed it so only the parents needed a passport and kids could travel with birth certificates.

Now here is where it gets sticky. Enhanced licences. It used to be adults, WITHOUT children could cross with an enhanced, but if you had kids with you the adults needed full passports unless the kids had passports.

Currently, parents with only an enhanced licence CAN cross with children who only carry a birth certificate. However during times of high security and Amber Alerts they may not allow it.

So long story short, it is best for all adults in your group to have a full passport instead of enhanced licences unless you want to risk having to leave some of your kids at the border.

Default Campground update

According to Diane @ Blueberry there are only 8 more campsites left BUT she still has the trailer for rent if anyone is interested.
Once the 8 sites are claimed she said she has the 'group camp' area that was opened up this summer. It also has water and power.

I'll tell you what................I'd LOVE to have a campsite out back overlooking the Goulais, a little fog rising out of the river in the early morning. Probably a GREAT chance of seeing moose wandering down by the rivers edge.

I'm probably going to freeze my nards off in my "summer" dome tent.

Oh well, wouldn't be the first time.
