I think they are referencing when MZJG pulled a shotgun on someone trying to come in the house at 1am when you were working, if memory serves me.

and the funny thing about that is....

turns out they just had the wrong house and now live two houses to the north. they won't even wave at us when we are outside doing yard work and wave at them.

I can't understand why they won't wave or say hi.
We are decent neighbors.

I used to have shitty neighbors.......but they died last year. Within 2 weeks of each other. Father and Son. Problem solved.

Daughter has the house now and she and her sons are fixing it and the yard very nicely. Other than a few glitches (gunfire at 5 a.m. on a Sunday by a bar skanks husband the son brought home due to drunken depression) they have been pretty decent neighbors. And the situation is improving everyday.

Due to these deaths, I currently have no new bad neighbor stories to share, even though I am less than 2 miles from the D.

Hope your problems get resolved soon. Took us 26 years.

NOTHING around here sells.
Well if you have lots of friends over it is nice they can park in the neighbors yard. If that squatter says anything ask her if you want to get the cops involved.

Here is a thought and tossing it out there.

Check the condition of the interior and asses just how much work it needed. Once I did that I may consider making it into a rental property. At which point I would talk with an attorney about placing a bid on the home of $1200-1600 and wave any tax lean making sure to include federal taxes in the wording.
I would use this little incident as incentive for them to sell the home maybe spreading the word around through a news network seeing if they will give mention. Spreading the word around will decrease the chance of someone else bidding on the property. But, it may also detour renters at first. I would stress the condition of the interior and up kept property to eliminate any concern about past issues.

A rental property could easily provide you with $400-600 a month. Use the common rent in your area with similar homes to establish a base. At $450 with them paying utilities you could return your investment within a few months. Make sure the township does not stab you in the back by getting a proper tax assessment on the property before renting. But, the income in rent should cover the taxes with a little left over for dealing with people. You will need to eat the turn on cost of the water, electrical, and gas adding as much as $900 to the startup as well as any repairs.

Establish your own rules, and being neighbors you can keep an eye on them making sure they are not making meth or something. Have a renter there for around 8 months or enough to break even tax wise and the property will be paid off then your free to sell the home and end up with a larger lot or continue renting.

The main thing is that it is pending the condition of the interior of the home. Then considering any repairs needed to make it safe, clean, and livable, turning on the utilities, and finding actual renters that have credit bad enough they are willing to pay your price while good enough they are not going to up and leave or use the location as a hot spot. Write down everything and see if it is worth messing with.

I am just saying it could provide a bit of change for a few years then you list the trailer for free with them hauling it away. Get the utility lines caped and covered and toss a pool or barn where the property sits now increasing your homes value overall.

Some people can deal with renting property and some people simply wont. Being that close you can easily make sure they are not doing anything illegal while extending your own property at a later time.

I could go on and on about our neighbor problems, I am at my wits end! FIRST the complete asshole two doors down from me does NOT have his mailbox stained in Olympic Russet Brown per the subdivision bylaws. It's at least TWO shades lighter. How is our subdivision supposed to have uniform mailboxes with rogue neighbors like this?

SECOND, the total asswipe down the street put up a 1' x 2' sign in his yard of the contractor he used to install his in-ground pool. Once again, per subdivision bylaws, signs by any contractors are not allowed. What a total lack of respect for humanity. How does this fukc head sleep at night?

THIRD, Bob Seger threw a massive party at his house two weekends ago and it was loud as hell! Parking is not allowed on our subdivision streets but guess what, BOB completely ignored this! There were cars parked in the street! WHO DOES THAT?

Did you burn down that house on Pontiac Trail as a message to all that zoning infractions will not be tolerated?

this is something we are still considering. if i can get the property cheap enough, i'd rather just level it and expand the yard. the guy that occupies it now told me how destroyed the inside is and he is the guy that dumpster dives for scrap and his yard looks like a land fill.
i'm am still considering buying the house next door to the north as a rental but i have never had a rental property and although it's a nice little house i am kind of leery about a renting, i know nothing about it besides the basics.

I'd investigate if you can donate the house to the fire department for a controlled burn and take a write off of 10k or so. That would pay for the land and hauling off most of the remnants I bet.

That is getting increasingly harder and harder to do. There are so many permits and regulations that it is hardly worth it any more. Anyways, Neither City or Heights needs a practice burn. They are running almost 1-3 a week.

Then perhaps it could be a real burn.

Give it time.. The past week has been quieter.. with only 2 structure fires in the city that i've heard. Give it time.. The sparkies will be back out. Major Metcalf is a hell of an investigator.

In my area I wouldn't fault any one thing but many. Mainly I would focus on production facility's leaving the area. This has resulted in the housing market taking a shit. People who bought before the jobs left went upside down not by their own doing. I also blame all the people who filed bankruptcy and flooding the market with homes that banks unload for huge losses. This puts people who own nice homes and are paying their bills in a lower price bracket than when they bought said home, lets say 15 years ago.
