where should I park?

I live in a small gated community where only 1 person (2 person apt.) can park within the gate. The apartment complex told me to parked my truck on the side of the road right out side the gate (per the contract.) Last saturday I parked my truck out side the gate along with 15+ cars. This morning the city put up no parking signs all the way down the street while I was at work. (I car pool to work so the truck has been sitting there since sat.) This afternoon I get a call from my neighbor saying they are about to tow it. So I race home and get it moved right before the tow truck showed up. I figured its the city trying to keep us all from parking on the streets (there's about 15-20 cars that park there.) So I ask the Office where I need to park and they told me to park farther down the road (where there is no parking signs.) or they will allow me to pay an extra monthly fee to park inside.

So I can either:
park farther down the road, and get towed
park in a neighboring business, and get towed (as stated in the contract)
park inside the gate, and get towed
or pay and extra fee each month to park inside

Thoughts?

Check with the city about some many parking spaces per occupancy. Seems that if a business has to have x number of parking spots, and and apartment complex would also.

edit: Just occured to me... Where the hell do any visitors that come to the complex park?

it's only $30 a month, which I am probably going to end up paying. it just seemed ridiculous when I moved in because parking inside the gate is the same distance to the apartment as the walk from the street, and I'm a broke college kid.

I wouldn't have moved into a place that had rules like that to begin with. I would upper deck the toilet and move out.

I would drive your truck through the front door of the office and park it there. If you live in a 2 person apartment, there should be one parking pass per occupant.

Pay the extra fee to park inside, or move. Parking within any major city is at a premium and the city has the right to choose what to allow within its right of ways, be it free parking, meters, monthly, or no parking. I would agree it sucks that they changed the street to no parking after you moved in, but I'm sure there are a number of supporting reasons.

That is a decision the developer made and the city approved.

Yeah.. Seems odd to me. I have never had any issue parking anywhere in Indy unless you live near Mass Ave.
