Default Who Remembers the Super Duper Yooper Fall Tour?

Who Remembers the Super Duper Yooper Fall Tour?

Just been reminiscing a bit, talking with some wheeling friends over the holiday weekend at Silver Lake about different trail rides and such.

If you don't know, The Super Duper Yooper Fall Tour was put in from either 1995 or 1996 til 2001 by the Swamp Stompers, as members of GLFWDA.

We had any where from 20-50 vehicles each year, and this was primarily a trail ride/ mud run held in the central UP.

Even though the number of people attending was much smaller then the Pig Gig, the socializing after the trail ride was just as good. Most people that attended, came back the next year.

I know there are several SS members, but I'm not sure about who else...

Haggar (light blue CJ5 on 34x9.4 swampers)
Killer"B" (blazer, pick, cj7, all BBC on 44's)
RARgreen (cj5 35" swampers)
jeeppoor (blazer BBC on 44's)

I believe PIGFAT was at one or two, I think with an old CJ3b ?

I ran red cj5 on 36's, black /purple cj7 on 38's, red YJ on 33's...

So who here ever attended one? What vehicle did you drive?

That run died out just as I joined GLFWDA, so I never got to attend. I do remember hearing stories about it.

I never ran the Super Yooper but ran the TQ Swamprat runs in the early 80's.

Jim, TQ is what inspired the Swamp Stompers to do the Yooper run.
Several of us attended TQ in 1993 & 1994, when it was then dropped, we started the Yooper run in a different area of the UP, but hoping for the same type of run.

I vaguely remember hearing about that, and even read an article in Four Wheeler I believe. I was wheeling an '87 Ford Escort back then since I was a teenager with no money. I'd love to do that type of trail ride in the U.P. sometime.

Where did the Yooper Fall tour take place specifically?

The Limestone Mini Mall was home base. Most of the trails were in the Chatham area.

Yep, in the black tracker with the terra tires on the back

I either had my Red TJ on 31s or my light blue CJ5 on 34x9.5 swampers.

Always a great time up there!!

More goodness

Tippy's Dad

I see KillerB in the big yellow Jeep, so this is a later run (plus there's a TJ..)

Some earlier runs, 97 I think.

Looks like KillerB in the tank top.

The 'stocker' groups from 98. The big winch trucks were out running Hell Hole. The Red TJ is mine.

Its funny to see how things have changed over the years from mud holes to rock piles, from stuffed in boggers to smaller stickes that allow more flex, and even steel winch cables to synthetic rope. Awesome pictures.

we just came back from a small get together, we started in champion, 30 miles west of Marquette, first year for it we had 8 trucks and 27 people show up, next year we are doing it the same weekend. we put on 400 miles while we were there, nothing too crazy off roading, mainly snowmobile trails and old two tracks, we had a blast and cant wait to hit the trails again next year!! we call it "lets get dirty" annual off road trip.
