Default Gonna buy a Focus ST. Anyone here sell Ford?

Call me a fag if you want...but I actually think these little cars are pretty fuckin sweet. figured I'd ask here so if any GL member sells 'em, I'd bring you the business.

I'm a single dood..so I don't have any kids to haul around -- just a bulldog. So that'll leave me PLENTY of room for the dog in the back and luggage/tent/supplies for a weekend camping trip or something.

I think they're pretty fun to drive..plenty of room..and great gas mileage. I really like them. NEVER in my WILDEST dreams, did I ever think I'd say I liked a Ford Focus, let alone buy one!

Eventhough I'm looking at them because they're pretty cheap vs fun ratio - but knowing me, I'll blow the whole 'cheap' idea out the window and sink a quick $2k or so into it in mods the first week. I'll be driving the car off the lot straight to Belle Tire for a set of wheels, and I'll be putting the ST stockers on Craigslist. I'll use that money for my first payment
But hey..

What do you guys think of them? I've only seen 1 or 2 on the road...they always seem to catch my eye.

Nice looking little cockpit as well:

the seats actually look pretty comfy...like that'd hug the shit out of you

I had the Focus ST on my short list of cars I wanted back in January when I was in the market. It's quick and fun to drive. Bad news is that I am 6ft 3in tall and between 230-240 lbs at the time, and I didn't fit well. My head hit the roof and the seats are kinda tight. Same story for the Mazdaspeed 3 and Civic Si etc. I hope you are not very tall or large like me.

I ended up with a WRX hatch.

Let me just say it is nothing like the older focuses! It's much faster and just a more quality vehicle. It is a little tight even for me 5'11'' but the gas mileage and overall "fun" experience of the vehicle makes it well worth the money.

I have a 2012 SEL and would gladly trade it for an ST if the wife was amenable to learning how to drive stick. Fun little car, quick even with the DCT. The wife uses it during the summer and she likes it as well. I am also getting 40+ MPG on the highway and 32 or so around town.

Does the ST have the 2.0 ecoboost? If so expect 25mpg...that's not great gas mileage

I liked the ride and drive of my regular focus sport...I hated the sync system and goofy ass radio among other little things that hopefully they did better on the ST.

I bought a focus and while trailrail was awesome to deal with, I would never recommend these cars to anyone.

That steering wheel is super uncomfortable. Those bars at 5 and 7 o'clock are right where I want to rest my hands on long trips. The transmission sucks. There's zero "zip" to scoot across an intersection or street and it's constantly hunting for gears. Plus when you're mall crawling it'll flip flop around through gears giving you whiplash similar to like you're an idiot that doesn't know how to drive a car with a clutch (and it's an automatic). Sometimes when starting mine if I drop it in gear and head out, it'll bog down like it wants to stall, and it's warm outside. It idles like it's got rusty soup cans wrapped around the exhaust. The A/C is either not cold enough, or way too cold. The steering is geared so the car is jerky. In snowy weather, the side windows are always sweaty and fogged. To put the rear seats down on those times you need that storage space, you have to remove the head rests and leave them behind and they're a pita to hit the release tabs if you don't have dainty little asian hands. The glove box space is retarded. Everything you throw in there lands in the lid so it won't close. The navigation menus on the onscreen stuff is the least intuitive U.I. I've seen since Microsoft Bob. And if you turn off, for example, it interrupting your music whenever a new text message comes in, it will re-enable that annoyance when you turn the car off and back on. Plus the audio levels are like 100db higher than the volume of whatever your listening to so you can't just ignore it.

EDIT: just to add, I drive like an old fart and never see better than 26 MPG.

I agree with everything VR said, I just figured everyone had enough of me whining about how much I hate our focus's.

They are cheap, they get good fuel mileage, that's the trick they do, and they do that part well, they do pretty much suck at everything else.

Oh, and the steering wheel in normal focus' is a hard crappy plastic, maybe the ST wheel is better?

With the current TV ad campaign, it almost doesn't matter how good the car might be, I don't see how you could possible own a Subaru and show your face. lol....

I assume this is in reference to the tree hugging, puppy saving crap Subaru has been pushing lately. If it makes you feel better, no money from my car purchase was used to save the whales or knit a hipster a beanie or anything. Otherwise, who cares what crap some marketing idiots put on a commercial, they still make a few pretty alright cars.

It seems some do not like the Focus ST, I know someone that does. I would steer clear of the Mazdaspeed 3, Civic Si, and Fiat Abarth, I have heard mixed reaction from those who own. I have also heard great recommendations for the GTI and I really enjoy my WRX. I ended up with the car primarily because of my size (tall and kinda fat), but the car has become even better the longer I have had it. Plus, when you put an exhaust on the Boxer engine, the sound (rumble) is pretty legit.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea.

VR and kickstand couldn't afford the titanium focus, however I could. With that being said I found nothing wrong with the trans, in fact I thought the trans was great, it never hunted for gears, and I thought it had decent pep for what it was. I hated and I mean hated the my touch radio, what a piece of shit. I hated it so much I order a new fusion, titanium edition of course. And wouldn't y have it, the fucking my touch radio came in that one too...FML, but I will say the radio in the fusion has only crapped out once compared to three dozen times in the focus. Long story short, I enjoyed my focus, I would recommend a focus to anyone looking for a good car that is not only stylish, but practical. I really like my new fusion with the 2.0 ecoboost, aside from the shitty gas mileage. And I have bought many cars from trailrail and so have my friends...never one complaint about him
