Default Propane Tank Fill Over Reaction?

Yesterday we checked and our tank was down to 5%. We have a small tank so my wife called yesterday and scheduled a fill up.

They came today, filled the tank and placed a pad lock on the tank,

No we are not behind on payment in any fashion and have not been ever for 12 and a half years now.

They told my wife that they would not turn the valve back on until they do a service inspection to check pressure at all of the points of use in the house. This was explained to her that it was a minimum 100 dollar fee plus hourly labor.

I talked to the wife on the phone from work, got there phone number and called them to tell them that I would not allow them to extort money from my wife like this.

They said they would come and get the tank, but would halve to charge me for pumping the propane off, a 15 % fee per gallon and a pick up charge of I believe 200$ I was getting red in the face by this time.

So when I got home tonight I loaded the tank up on my equipment trailer, drove it to Ionia unloaded it and set it on the cement walkway in front of their building.

My wife says I over reacted.

What do you think.

Parkers Propane always said they would pressure test if tank got below 5%.

They always charged $100 to do it. Not sure why less than 5% would require a test. They pissed me off more times than once so eventually I went with FerrelGas.

Was glad to finally get rid of them and have Consumers bend me over the barrel.

I cant say you over-reacted. When Parkers pissed me off, I put an old padlock on it, and refused to mow the lawn for 4 weeks. I also had DPW put several dump-truck loads of clay soil from the ditches they were digging out in Montrose area around my propane tank. I then made sure to be home the day they retrieved the pig. Was very hilarious to watch them. It took 5 hours for them to get the pig loaded up. I thought for sure they would make me help/reschedule/move dirt but they never did.

Did you over react? probably
Do I love your style? Heck yeah!
the only way you could have topped this is by getting pictures of said tank on your trailer and on their walkway.
Bravo!

You did not over react, unless you left the tank like this:

Whenever I switch propane companies they always perform a pressure check for free.

What size propane tank did you have?

You did not over react. If you used the propane cylinder as an involuntary butt plug for the propane companies owner, then you may have over reacted.

While it is pretty funny what you did; now you just opened yourself up for fees and penealties. Such as I can see them charging you for the tank because you "improperly" moved it and damaged it plus then charging you for the propane that is still in it

Edit: Eh, f**k em

After you dropped it off you should've found something to wrap a chain around to anchor the tank and slap a padlock on it.

Yeah this. I'm kind of surprised at their attitude with you. Doesn't sound too customer focused to me.

They should have started the conversation with you..."We are sorry we came across as trying to extort money from your wife...."
