My sister sent me banana nut bread when I was in Afghanistan by the time it got to me it was green and furry. After eating only mre's for weeks it smelled really good. I had to eat some if it.

My mom sent my platoon a bunch of frozen whitecastle burgers from SAMS club in dry ice. For some reason or another they got sent back to her and she said when she opened the box they were all rotten and nasty

Like someone else said, I had my head up my ass at 18/19. Ended up with a son, and got custody of him, so right now it is not an option. However, I will still be young enought after he turns 18 to sign up.

I very much regret it now, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Thank you to all that have served.

We had a VCR aboard and watched "Kentucky Fried Movie" about 7000 times. The other tape got screwed up. Some squidling wrote mom and dad about it and they sent us a tape of... Corvette Summer. Which was played 7000 times.

Annie Potts still gets me hot and bothered to this day.

They told me I was borderline diabetic at meps. I was pissed. Went to my doc and had blood work done. Clean bill of health but they said their diagnosis still stands.

My nephew was admitted into the US Naval Academy (Annapolis) and didn't go because he didn't want to leave his girlfriend. They broke up 6 months later...

I've had type 1 diabetes since I was 10, or else I would like to think I might have joined the Air Force and been a pilot like my Dad. I've done a LOT of things in my life with diabetes, including running a marathon; but there are some things the government just won't let you do with certain medical conditions

Instead my life with diabetes, and being a participant in a clinical trial influenced me to become a clinical research scientist working on diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. Perhaps it was devine intervention.

I can say confidently that you're doing more important work than I am at the moment!

My daughter has just joined the Army Reserve . She heads to boot camp later this month. Because of her college education she has selected intelligence school. She will come out of boot camp as an E4 while her fiancée is a Marine with 4 tours and has become. E5

In all honesty joining the military was the best thing that I've ever done. I'll hit seven years in January and I'm already signed up for another six after I finish the current school that I'm in. I'll end up doing twenty if not more
