Try and find one with a solid body and frame. Stay away from a 2.5.

Rust behind the rear shackle mount on the frame, where the transmission mounts to the skid plate and sometimes around the steering box

Front axel shafts suck, swap with tj or late model xj shafts with larger u joints, and then you will most likely need to replace the front drive shaft. Avoid anything other than a well done v8 swap or the 4.0 high output. Lookout for and avoid the pheugot trans and the internal slave ax15.

Square headlights, I.e. not a real Jeep.

Except for Stan's, which is badass.

Older ones have carbs...

My brother has a 2.5 w/ 31s..... it is BAD!

Inspect frame rails, then again, then yet again.

87-90 had a carved 4.2, some run good but most like to bitch about them.

95 is the golden year!

Did I mention to inspect the frame?

Buy a tj. They can be had for a reasonable price and they are better in almost every way.
