Default Ammo question

Any idea what these are or for. Guy I work with brought them in. A friend of his got them and they were not the right ones for the gun.

You have three choices
1. Throw them in a bon fire.
2. Give them to a kid with a hammer.
3. Open the box and measure them.

I did measure them. It came out to 52.3mm. After I did a quick search. It is a Mosin Nagant
