Along with a pile of modular motor mustangs and ricers. After I went Down in tire size I did lose a race with super charged nissan. Nothing to do with tire size I just missed a gear.

All you guys bitching about gears must have a
#1 auto trans
#2 307 stock gears
#3 35" tires

A 373 tj with a manual trans wheels fine with 33" tire. The biggest reason I switched to 456 was for a lower first gear in high range, so I can run 2hi off road more.

I noticed more driveability from my stroker then I did from my gear swap.
If you take 190 hp motor and add 1/3 more horse power (stroker) you will notice a huge improvment.
If you regear to 456 with a 33" tire you will notice your jeep runs like it did stock. Whoopy.

Im sure none of the guys I beat were really racing. I did watch them for hrs driving back and forth on the dragstrip, I dont know why they all waited for the guy with the flag to start them, they wernt racing

It seems like a lot of work for 40 hp. If you are going for tons and 44s a ls motor is a no brainer. If you NEED more then 300hp the 5.3 is the way to go,or if you have skills and money. For a dd on smallish tires you cant beat a stroker. If you have no fab skills you cant beat a stroker.
The only 5.3 tj exsperience I have was not that impressive over my stroker. I only drove it on the street and suspect it had 307 gears with 33s. I wasnt that impressed but it was not done to my standards. I had 373 gears so it is not a fair comparison.
Im a little weird but I enjoy schooling v8s with my stroker more then I would enjoy winning races with a 5.3. Everyone would expect a ls powered jeep to be fast and clean up at the dragstrip. The feeling of beating v8s with a inline tractor motor is priceless.
People with v8 jeeps scatter like buckshot after being outrun by a 6cyl.

It's bracket racing so I allready lost. I know from exsperience I will either redlight or cut a perfect light and breakout in the first round.
I've been drag racing on the pavement for ever , after watching my cousin sanddrag for 30 years I have to try it.

Those are what are called facts. If you would like to continue running your cocksucker do it at the dragstrip, then you may have something to say.
This thread started as a motor swap which you guys turned into a axle swap thread. Im not sure what axles you use to fix a blown up motor.
If you dont like me talking about how well my stroker runs then race me with your big bad v8. Or are you scared????? O ya Im the one talking shit. Thats right....
I have a dresser drawer with hundreds of timeslips in them from the dragstrip, timeslips dont make your shit fast.

I have noticed my tow rig is starting to smoke a little when I start it. I was going to put new valve seals in it but I should probobly put lower gears in it, that will help.

For the record, I've never met anyone with something fast worth talking about that actually talked about it. Generally the quieter they are, the quicker it is. I'm sure this holds true for you as well.

I went to the dunes yesterday. My old I6 has way to much power and I kept digging into the sand all day. I recommend a four squirrel replacement

Lolllllll

Lol looks just like my day at the drag strip w/ a 4.0. And 35s

1st gear- take the hole shot get out in front....winning

2nd gear - everyone's v8s w/ autos are getting to the "top" of their 1st gear and they are catching up quickly.

3rd gear sounds like a day at MIS, V8S blowing by. its over, everyone but the guy on the 125cc dirt bike beat me.

I'm the first one back to the line because it only took me 3seconds to slow down.

Should read "schooling everyone's v8s in the first 100 feet then getting raped by displacement."

Let me be clear, my jeep is slow. If driven agressivly the exaggerated body roll from my ladder bar and flywheel momentum that barks the tires when slamming 2nd give the illusion of a fast jeep. However, I am fully aware that my jeep is slow. Hell a stock 5.3 powered wrangler is slow in the grand scheme.

If you want a jeep that's going to lay down the law your going to need a school bus engine, large stack of green and driving skills.

Lmao exactly the answer is 5.3 or 4.7 not lower gears or 1 tons haha. I'm just a manual fan we all have opinions and I prefer a manual over an auto whether its better or not

I prefer a manual also but if I was going with a 5.3 I would just use a nv3500/241

Wish there was a cheaper adapter than AA for that. Why the 241 over a 231?

Use a NV3500 / NV241 from a 1/2 ton chevy pickup, he means (not aJeep NV3550). No adapters needed anywhere. Just buy a SYE for the 241 and all set..

I'd say 5.3 better build options with power to be had...stroker I'd think you'd be limited

Exactly that's what my buddy is running
The sye on the 241 was more expensive but not as expensive as a $500 AA adapter
