Driving while intoxicated

One of my good buddies that I worked with at a transmission shop was driving home from the bar a few weeks ago and ran off the road hitting a tree going about 50MPH. He almost died. Very lucky to be alive. It doesn't look good though. Chances are, he will never work again. He is only 25.

This is a good reminder that although some of us think we are bulletproof, we aren't.

Only if the catostrophic claims portion of the no fault insurance was revoked before the accident. Otherwise the insurance company will be paying his medical bills for life. The last I heard Snyder & his cronies were trying to eliminate or reduce it to 1 million but it was still in effect.

Great, so the rest of us with good driving records will pay higher rates to cover the insurance company's losses.

And where do you think the insurance company gets the money??? From people who pay their insurance premiums. Most of them also pay their taxes making them "tax payers" and HH is technically correct either way.

Eh BlooMule beat me to it

You or your insurance company cannot revoke the "catostrophic claims portion" of you auto insurance. Since 1978 it's been mandated by law and they only deal with insurance companies not individuals. Secondly that only offers lifetime medical payments on balances exceeding $500,000. So prior to hitting $500,000 the medical bills fall entirely on his insurance company(assuming he had insurance) after he hits $500,000 his insurance company is reimbursed the entire amount and the rest of his bills would come from mcca. Then lets say he is all fukc up and can never work again. Well ssd will support him. I really hope one night at the bar was worth costing the rest of us money out of our pocket books. Not only in the form of our taxes but the chances of our insurances rates going up. When your buddy is well enough, tell him to go fukc himself. I feel bad for his family having to deal with this, but it could have been entirely avoided and was a completely selfish act on the part of you buddy
