Our group did all the interior and exterior tooling and gages.
I'm liking it more everytime I see them.

I'm sorry but that front end is ugly as sin IMO.

The rest looks fine.

They've been running those out in Lapeer County (Dryden/Almont area particularly) 24 hours straight for the past couple weeks. There's typically two of them, with different trim packages on them. I assume they are diesels and they are trying to get some miles on them to get them through the break in period to study possible warranties and wear on them. The new Cherokees replaced the Liberty. They're ugly as hell with that front end if you ask me. Jeep is slowly weening away from the distinct Jeep look o|||||o

I wonder if they do that because the test divers are retards or because some out there for test are diesel...

Some are diesel, for euro market, I'm told. And some of the drivers are retards, okay more than some.

Are jeep designers just blatantly copying gm's bland style?

They don't look that much alike at all, especially in person. No more than all the SUVs in that category have similarities...

I had a heck of a time trying to find my white test car in our main lot, wth Kias, Fords, Chevys, BMWs, and a couple others, we have so many small white SUVs.

The wife and one of the kids saw a commercial for it and both thought it looked like a minivan from the rear. Not what Chrysler was shooting for with a “trail ready” Jeep I’m guessing

There was a time when no one could confuse a Jeep for anything else. There are two approaches to success, one is to copy what is selling and be just another one in the crowd. The other is to do something different. Jeep has traditionally done their own thing and that difference was a large part of the appeal. For years now the brand has been diluted and exploited and is losing its uniqueness. The least they could have done is named that thing something ghey so as not to soil the Cherokee nameplate.

Cant say the xjs in the 90s looked much different from a blazer or broncoII/then explorer...

Wrangler is the only one that always stood out, and still does. Its all about what sells really, they have to meet demands of buyers. even people with capable rigs dont wheel them, let alone someone who buys a new vehicle in the suburbs.

I dont like it, but i get it...

Take all the badging off all those old ones and one could still identify them from any angle. Take the badging off the new vehicles and most people would be hard pressed to tell which vehicle was which until they got a look at the grill.

I get it. The push for fuel economy has made aerodynamics a priority over style. Eventually all vehicles will evolve into look alike tear drops. I also understand that Chrysler needs to make money and that they decided copying the competition's styling and whoring out the Jeep name to everything from gym bags to pos car like vehicles is in their best short term financial interest. That doesn't mean I have to like it though.
