Default axle and locker help

Hey
So I have a 99 TJ sport which i want to make into a great off road vehicle.
currently i dont have lockers but i am looking into the options of what to do.
I have stock dana 30 and 35 axles.
last weekend i met a guy who is selling his dana 44 axles, lockers, and everything that goes with them off his TJ Rubicon for $3000.
Should i invest in his axles, different axles, or just putting lockers on my current dana axles? or is there an even better option?

first off D35 is a turd and a ticking time bomb. secondly, just adding an automatic/drop-in locker locker (Aussie, Lock Right, etc) to the front D30 will make a huge difference without much cost

^^^ very true, Just adding a locker to the front can take you to a whole different level of wheeling. If you plan to have a bit more fun and maybe run 35's you can do that with a locked30/open35 combo but you have best be responsible with the axles.
I loved having the rubi axles. The bolt right in and work great. If you can budget it I would go that route! You will need a pump for the lockers, but the trade off to just have everything set up so all you have to do is push a button is awesome. I had 35x12.5 under rubi axles and wheeled it hard without any issues. I put upgraded steering and a upgraded track bar and was set.

ok thanks.
i have 33" tires and 4" lift. I am thinking of eventually moving up to 35" but probably not much more than that.
so it sounds like i should buy the rubicon axles and get air compressors so i can easily activate and deactivate them.

ive done a fair amount of wheeling and know how vital lockers can be and that is why i am looking for a pair. and since the rubi dana 44 axles are stronger and come with lockers that seems the best option.

how easy are the rubi dana 44 axles to install in place of dana 30 and 35s?

The d44 axles should be a very easy bolt in. I believe you may have to cut or modify your driveshafts. The tj d44 is stronger then a 30 and 35 but not near as strong as a old d44.
As long as you stay around a 35" tire they will be great. If you plan on going to a 37" tire I would look at other options.

a lock right in the front dana 30. then a used super 35 kit, or a used tj 44 with a detroit in back.
i own a rubicon, and the axles are fine for 35's, if u decide to go that route.
for 3k they better be low miles, on a bone stock jeep.
rubicon axles do bend sometimes.

ok. so if i bought the dana 44 axles how hard would it be to cut and modify my driveshafts so they will fit?

The rubi axles with a truss and call it done. You may need to adjust your camber depending on the links used with the lift.
