I've been mowing the vacant lot next to my house in White Lake for at least 10 years even when I didn't live there. Mostly to keep the bugs & vermin under control. The neighbor on the other side of it doesn't mow her lawn & dumps her cat litter over the fence onto the vacant lot. There are probably 2 cubic yards of cat crap piled up next to the fence. 5 years ago the guy wanted 32k for the lot, so I bought my parents house in Wixom instead. If he had been reasonable then I could have a pole barn up by
now. I talked the guy down to $5500 and expect to close soon, when I met him I was pissed cause there doesn't seem to be any reason he couldn't drive out from Southfield once a month to mow it. I am debating how to handle the cat crap issue, I'd really like to just throw it back over the fence onto the porch

The squatters I had on my land offered to cut my lawn to stay there, so I will just box them up with all their dogs, campers, tents and other garbage send them to live next door to you, problem solved for both of us.

However, they will end up digging a fire pit to burn off pieces of camper that cant be turned in for scrap money and then leave the frames just sitting around. Just a minor detail to insure you never have to cut the grass.

Does this require a planning meeting hours before the cutting of the lawn commences?

Well, sometimes we will drink a beer and chat. But never about lawn.
Usually when one of us cuts our lawn (done 1-2 times per week), the other follows suit that (or the next) day and mows in the same pattern.

Common sense is weird.

Damn the man!
I live between Fowlerville and Gregory, they probably encourage long grass to help hide the broken down cars in everyone's yards. While there may be a law about grass, I'm sure they wouldn't enforce anything outside of the "downtown" area. I mean I do mow my lawn and it looks fine, but if I didn't want to I wouldn't have to.

I am in OC so my taxes are high. I will tell you what though, after the neighbor had their lawn cut by the city they never let it get long again so a swat on the nose works for some bad neighbors.
you may have misunderstood. the city/township only temporarily pays the vendor for cutting the lawn.

the owner, or even the bank eventually pays it (after all of those fees are tacked on).

a delinquent property tax bill will subordinate any other Lien except for a Federal Court Judgement. meaning that even if the bank refuses to pay the bill on a foreclosed property, it will get paid, or the County will own the house/property and auction it off to satisfy the Tax Lien.

Eventually every house on the street will lose their value because of one hilljack living in the city.
I considered that place to be over valued compared to the rest of the neighborhood. Unless its full of high end finishes.

Rig up an inconspicuously disguised wireless camera, record her dumping then turn her into the EPA. She'll get a nice bill for cleaning up the bio-waste.

It is not neighborly to let your situation impact your neighbors property value because you feel entitled to being able to have a horrible looking property. I know not everyone was raised with these values which could be why America is falling apart.
I was brought up to maintain your yard and house also. I have slacked on my house a little because Im planing a remodel very soon, my yard is mowed at least twice a week.

I just found it funny that tall grass is dangerous. I totally agree if you live in a area that is close to orhers you should keep up your place for them, and yourself. If you live in the middle of the sticks I dont care what you do with your yard.

I'm curious which neighbor he's talking about. The one to the north is listed at $166,900.

well, based on the photo standing at the road it would be the one to the left. Based on my mapping abilities and my sense of direction that would be south.

hrm. did he move again? or perhaps it's listed "off market" such as FISBO or the like

I'm old, and I run my monitor at way too high of a resolution to figure out/see that detail you saw in the photo

edit. nope, just too stupid to realize there were two pictures there go ahead lol at me

edit again: currently listed at $209k through max brook

another edit: weird that the location search didn't pick up that listing, but the actual PRD/Address search did. weird. realcomp/NOCBOR folks have a weird database.
