JK Newbie....what do I need to know

I need some JK knowledge. First off road adventure in the JK coming up in Sept and looking for advice on what I need to know to make it there and back without issues, what parts to upgrade, things to check before heading out, etc.

Not sure if I'm going to run it stock or with 2.5" lift/35's/stock gearing. Between now and then probably replacing ball joints (aftermarket) and any other worn suspension/steering parts.

Thanks in advance

its already got a 44 so i'm half way there . it may get trussed eventually but that's it. if no one bites on my F250 I may use the axles from it some day. but that's a long ways down the road.
