Default Vespa? To buy or not to buy?

So I have the opportunity to buy my Aunt's 2009 LX150.
She bought it new ($4399 msrp) and it has a whopping 77 miles on it. (basically new) My uncle was the only one that rode it and he passed away.
She is offering it to me for $1500

It is fun to ride. Will do 60MPH and gets something like 75mpg. What I am struggling with is will I actually use it. I work 6 miles from home, but I already have a couple of "toys" -04 unlimited and an 06 mustang gt. I have two kids and the majority of the time I am carting one if not both around.

Besides the sentimental value, is there any real use for one of these things in the northern suburbs?

It seems kinda tough to find pricing on those (used). And what you do find is all over the map.

If you're buying it to have fun with and keep a while then why not.

If you're buying it to save some fuel then it'll pay for itself if you use it regularly.

If you're buying it and expect to be able to get any money out of it at a later date don't do it as I doubt you'll get enough demand to get much out of it.

I want some sort of motor scooter, harley, dual sport, etc. to use to run my errands with. 99% of the time when I run to town it's just me, not that I am driving far (4-5 miles) but I wouldn't mind saving the fuel and wear and tear on my truck.

I would buy it. Scooters are only going to get more popular in the states as time goes on imo. The price seems good for such a low mile unit, I cant imagine you could lose money on it if you take care of it. If you dont use it I bet it will be easy to resell to a coworker or freind of a freind who foolishly bought a china made pos.
How old are your kids? Might be a form of transportation for them in a few years also.

If you don't want it and she's willing to sell it to somebody else for that price, let me know. I might be interested. I am not far from Berkley if the Vespa is in that area too. I've been thinking about getting one just to piss off my wife really.

Don't buy it, you won't use it. These things show up on Craigslist all the time with low mileage for not a lot of money. There aren't a lot of Vespa dealers around Michigan so if you need parts you have to order them and wait. And the few dealers there are ignore selling them when you go in specifically looking for Vespa because they're over priced for what you get. The competing brands have better parts availability, cost less and even have some mods available is you're into tweaking.

Have some self dignity! A moped? Really? I don't care if it is 150cc it is still a moped and mopeds are for 15 year olds and drunks with no drivers license.

Don't listen to the naysayers! Get it and ride the shit out of it while getting 100+ MPG!
Don't worry, you'll only look a little gay!

It would actually make you less gay if you mounted a 12" long black dildo in place of the seat and purposely took it down the bumpiest roads in town.

It's not a moped. It's a scooter.
