School me on 1911's

Looking at full size 1911 for target use. Maybe some carry but I already have 2 compact carry guns. Would go stainless or blued. Price range 8-900 $$

I like the springfield sig and smith's

Springfield.

Kimber used to be at the top but now they're surviving solely off of that reputation based on their name. They long ago switched to cheaper processes to maximize profit versus quality. Springfield has them beat hands down.

X2

I have heard more horror stories of kimber 1911s having cycling issues than any other "high end" 1911.

Chad ive heard the same, my neighbor got a kimber and factory or reload cant run more that 10-15 mags through it before it stops cycling rounds, personally i wouldnt put my life on that. My buddy and i both bought rock island 1911s and there dead accurate and have worked flawlessly. He has put 15,xxx plus rounds through his i maybe have 1000. He shoots competitivly with his as well as carrys it.

I've always loved shooting my Springfield. But since I rarely get to the range I think it's going to be going up for sale soon.

My friend has the ruger sr1911 and it seems like a good gun for the price the few times I have shot it.

Kimbers are nice just to show people you have one. Never been a huge fan of Springfield, but they do make nice guns. For 1911s, I like Colt and Kimbers.

I love my ugly Glock.

The rear sight is large but I see you want a target pistol. Dont over look the Sig Pistols . I bought the Tac Ops model and its a shooter. Some dont like the external extractor though.

Do not get a kimber!!!!! 2 of the people I work with had the gun fire when chambering a round. One had it happen twice. Another's wouldn't extract and had one round flip 180 around and have another round load into the spent case. Their quality has gone way down hill. The use compressed aluminum. If money isn't an object get a wilson tactical. Colt and Springfield are top of the line also
