im curious why everything mike has done is wrong? whats wrong with fish plating the frame? why does the cage work seem like its from the 80's? the cage was overbuillt for what he is using it for so he cut up the cage and rewelded it to lighten it up, but still keep strength where it needs to be. in all seriousness go up to the dunes and stop mike and talk to him about it. might just change all your minds.

Probably not,........... He was out of control in that video, with to many people around. He didn't do anybody any service by showing his ego. Far too dangerous to be doing that type of jumping at the dunes.

Like I said earlier, had he done this off hours with safety barriers and equipment, I would have been okay with it. He risked not only his health and welfare, but all of those spectating. He didn't have proper control of the truck, otherwise he would not have aired with his nose up like that.

All I saw in that video was ego, and ammunition to shut the dunes down.

I'm not against jumping, in fact I'm very proud of the photo that I have of you in the blue truck, this guy however needs an adjustment.

I'm not sure how you think I get "wound up". All I do is point out your mistakes and jealousy that other people are having fun, while you're here criticizing them.
But if it makes you sleep better thinking you can "wind me up", have at it.
It's just too bad you can't understand people are out there having fun with the things they build.

Ok, let's look at this.......
Do a search on youtube just for "nascar crashes" I'd bet you can sift thru thousands of them. So judging by your reply here, those no expense spared chassis they build, and those highly paid drivers are which of the above?
Your theory is debunked. See how easily you are picked apart?

how can you say he was out of control, once the tires leave the ground your just along for the ride at that point. you cant say oh mother nature dont blow any wind so i can land properly, which is in fact what happened the wind caught the body of the truck and lifted the nose. had it not been for the wind and he landed the jump this thread would be looked at in a whole different manor.

as for it being to dangerous to be doing that kind of jumping whats the difference between his jump and the jump you refered to as being proud of ? it was still a jump and just as much could have gone wrong or hurt just as many people.

Nascar has conditions that get the cars out of control but I don't think I have ever seen a video of a car changing lanes purely because the driver throttled it and it had so much torque steer that he couldn't keep it straight. Add in double the speed and a dozen other cars around you while you are on a banked turn and it = not a good analogy.

I love the motor in the yellow jeep but when watching the vids of it crossing lanes and going crooked simply by throttle control (or lack of) I have to agree with Kickstand that it seems pretty unbalanced.

Here's another example.
Videos From Hale Mud Bog & Hill And Hole May 26 2013 - Great Lakes 4x4. The largest offroad forum in the Midwest

Watch the vids of Dan Perkins. Lots of HP but it won't launch without lifting the front and he can't keep it straight = not any fast runs. Then watch some of the other rigs stay stable.

Big motors and ballsy drivers don't overcome a chassis, suspension, tire hookup and balance that can't handle the HP.

Apparently you didnt see the video of the truck folding in half. This is what I think: Arguing that he was NOT driving recklessly is rediculous. He absolutely was (but he is not the only person to do so at SLSD). People dont want Silver Lake to be closed or changed because of his actions. His truck is cool, I would love to own it, but it is currently not a Pro ANYTHING, Trophy Truck, Race Truck, etc, it is a decent dunes truck. It is UNDER BUILT for 200 ft jumps PERIOD. I am sure Mike is a cool guy, we all hope he doesnt kill himself or more importantly someone else some day. He has a reputation of driving like a moron and destroying vehicles. Destroyed vehicles usually comes with people being injured. Also, Hancho is jealous. If he wouldnt buy so many gold chains and wrist watches, he could afford to be as cool, maybe.

I would almost agree with your analogy, except....
That Jeep works great in controlled conditions (at the track). He takes it all over to have fun with it though, even though it may not be suited best for the dunes/hill climbs/snow/etc; he uses it to have fun and enjoy himself.
Along that lines goes nascar......
Take a car out of that controlled environment, put in let's say a wet road highway, how "safe" is it?
I've seen a lot of professional built chassis cars hit the guard rail at the dragstrip. Professional built chassis cars with professionally paid drivers. All in a controlled environment.

I'll stop in and see you, we can discuss if you like. I just believe his actions endangered many, as well as himself.

Probably the same number of times that Jeep can run straight down a track, in the environment it was meant to be in.....
