Default Livonia/Plymouth/Canton

Found out today my company is merging my corporate office to one of the plant locations in Romulus. Good thing I didn't buy a house yet, but I'm not too thrilled about it regardless....except for lunches at the Landing Strip.

I'm looking into moving out that way now, but want some first hand accounts of the Livonia/Plymouth/Canton area. I have friends in Livonia, and it has always seemed to be reasonably nice.

Any particular parts to stay away from?

I'm in livonia right by the edge plymouth and westland over by 275 and Ann Arbor rd. Its pretty nice over here. Plymouth property values are pretty stable and a bit higher than livoina. You'll probably get more for you money in livonia but plymouth might be a better investment

i grew up in Romulus now I live I New Boston. Romulus isn't bad. Not great. What kind of yard and house are you looking for. Just about 10 minutes south its country, quiet, more spacious. North of there is city living. Northwest towards canton is a mix of both but primarily city.

If you have kids keep out of the plymouth canton school district. My neighbor is a drug enforcement officer in the district. He tells me that the amount of come and herion they get from the kids is insane.

No kids, single white male.

Looking for a 2+ bedroom 1.5+ bathroom with an attached (preferable) 2 car garage. Would like a decent backyard to have people over, but nothing large. I prefer convenience over country living.

I grew up in Garden City, and currently rent an apartment just outside of downtown Plymouth. I really like Plymouth, it's very safe and there's plenty to do in the summer downtown. Houses are pricey in Plymouth from what I hear, but there are a lot of nice old houses to look at. Livonia is nice as well, though not quite as exciting as Plymouth. The closer you get to Redford the worse it is, but it never gets bad. I would stay west of middlebelt myself.

Canton is the same throughout, busy busy busy, full of cookie cutter subdivisions, not really any bad neighborhood that I know of. There are however some rural parts of both Plymouth and Canton on the outskirts. Dirt roads all over, nice place to be.

If that's what your looking for downtown Romulus would be good. Where cj65 lives is a nice area. Your close to shopping, both 94 and 275, good selection of hardware, auto parts stores, pharmacy and the like.

My friends had a very nice home with a large garage on an acre in Livonia and decide to move out because they had 2 young daughters and weren't happy with the schools. My brother lives in a nice house in Canton and it is a very busy area. Some areas of Plymouth can be very expensive, it is a nice town and I enjoyed working there when I wasn't on the road.

Honestly, this. Novi, Northville, South Lyon, Plymouth. Say as far north of 94 as you can, and west of 275.

This is an issue in many affluent High Schools from what I understand. Parents are too busy working to keep their McMansion to notice their kids are hooked on drugs.

My understanding is most turn to it when they don't get enough allowance to cover their prescription drug habit, and then they go low budget and get hooked on heroin. They need something to make them feel better when someone says mean things about them on facespace.

That shis is everywhere, to try and single out one school district over another is stupid.
