Default Verizon Battery Life Decrease?

Has anybody else seen this recently? My personal phone, work phone, and my wife's phone are all on Verizon, all within 1.5 years old, and all have seeing significantly decreased battery life in recent weeks. I figure there was some automatic phone or network upgrade causing it. Just figured I'd see if anyone else has seen this, and even better if they've heard of a specific setting to change or fix to perform.

Yes. It is time for an upgrade. They do this on purpose.

Eh I'm not convinced of that just yet. Work phone is 6 months old on a completely separate account. My phone isn't eligible for an upgrade till September, and wife's phone is at least another 6 months behind that.

I can't say for you, but in my experience once you use your phone for a while it accumulates a lot of necessary data fragments. Download cCleaner and clean up all your junk on it. My Fiance's S5 and my work S6 started to do the similar, they seemed to go dead 2-3 hours sooner.

Cleaned that stuff up, turned off most of the GPS stuff and that helped a lot. I would think that would only really make sense if you use your phone a lot.

Haven't noticed a decrease, it can also have something to do with your charging patterns/usage. Father in law works for Verizon.

Had the same problem with my S4. Cleared the cache and it is fine now. Have to do this about twice a year.

Are you killing all of your apps? Those can suck a lot of battery in the background.

Nothing has changed on any of the 3 phones as far as usage or apps, but they all started getting decreased battery life at roughly the same time.

My S5 started doing it on AT&T ordered a new batter and same issue. I honestly think it's the providers being dicks.

Check the settings on the Verizon Cloud app.

If you don't change them, it will back up absolutely everything on your phone every single day pretty much at random (no matter what time you try to set it to). That's all texts, call history, pictures, movies, etc. The more that accumulates on your phone... the more gets uploaded and it takes longer.

I'm guessing the Facebook app. My co-worker and I were having this issue and logging out of Facebook seemed to solve it.

Neither of us have that. Are you talking about Backup Assistant? Pretty sure that's for contacts.

1 of the phones doesn't even have Facebook on it. 1 of the others was having some glitches with it the past few days so I deleted and then reinstalled the Facebook app so we'll see if it helps.

Typically when something like this happens, it's probably due to some update that reset whatever settings you had.

Check that whatever apps you have do not auto-play videos (Facebook in particular). This will save data usage on your plan also

Turn off automatic updates for apps

Turn off location services for whatever apps you don't want tracking you

Turn sync off. You can go in and sync whenever you want. You usually don't do enough stuff or take too many pics that would require daily syncing

Power the phones down periodically. Don't just restart them. Power them down and then power them on. If the batteries are removable, take them out for about 10 seconds. Seems ridiculous, but it works

x2. I'm on Verizon, I got 2 batteries with my phone, when the first one started to drain faster, I switched to the second brand new battery and it drains the same if not a little faster even.

The battery life on my phone has been terrible the past couple of weeks. I even switched to my brand new Samsung backup battery last night. After a full charge to start the day it was at 30% by 4 pm. Fully charged at 6 pm and I'm already down to 43%.

All apps are updated and I have been closing everything regularly. So I know it's something with my phone. Very annoying.

How to solve phone problems:

1) open car window while driving on the freeway.

2) toss phone out of window

3) enjoy you tether free life.
