Default Antique Doors

My house was built in 1925, and I have 8 or so of the original solid wood doors. Many of the doors in the house have been replaced, and I've heard these old doors can be worth some money.

From looking on Craigslist and eBay I've seen these things range anywhere from $100 to $250 a door.

Anyone have any experience selling these or at least have some more knowledge about this sort of thing? Or better yet, anyone want to buy these things?

my wife went and bought some rotted out antique door from some crackhead in flint once.

She was gonna do something crafty with it, it sat on the wood pile for half a summer until my brother broke it in half. She was mad, I laughed.

I guess it's the new cool for the ladies on pinterest to make neato things out of them.

If she wants another one, she can take one of the 2 I have been storing for my wife in the garage for the past 3 years....

Try this company in Ypsilanti and consider their prices as "local market value."

Are these multi-panel doors? My mom has bought and sold several old doors. $100-$250 seems right around what they're worth. But, I guess it just depends on how much the ladies are willing to spend.

No.

I'm pretty sure your wife is the reason I stored this door for the last 2-3 years myself. As much as I am sure my wife is the reason your wife has been storing her doors in your garage for the last 2-3 years.

I accidentaly broke a door and two old windows that my wife had in my garage for almost 2 years when we moved. She was sad, I acted like it was a genuine accident, but smiled when I threw them to the curb for the garbage man.

Thanks. I shot them a note too to see if they are interested in just buying mine outright.

The problem with old doors is they are fit to the doorway they were originally installed.

I have 3 doors I need to replace, even though they are all nominally 30" doorways, the heights vary by an inch, and the latch and hinges are at different heights. And my house was built in 1952, my mother's house was built in 1927 and it's even weirder- 29" doorways, HUGE skeleton key type locks, etc.

If they are a flat face door they would make an excellent top for a work bench. I built my old work bench this way.
