Default Name this unknown object

I found these in my garage when I bought my house last year. I haven't a clue to what they are. I even had them at a garage sale for free and people would ask me what they are. I'm counting on you guys coming thru. The curiosity is killing me!

They look like things you stick into flower pots to help support the flowers. Plants that grow very high such as tulips.

I used to work landscaping years ago.
