on the section of roadway where the viper crashed the cables are only on one side of the highway.

As a motorcyclist, the cable barriers scare the hell out of me.

Agreed, but that thing looks like a meat shredder compared to a solid rail. I understand the function and the placement, And I really, really hope I never have to "tangle" with one.

That's great! Thanks for the assistance.
What I wanted to know is where in Michigan he has seen it...
I'm not saying they don't exist elsewhere or even here.

I'm guessing that like most people he doesn't pay that much attention to barriers that he hopes he never has to run into. I sure don't.

Have I noticed that there are now cable catch systems in place where previously it was wide expanses of grassy areas in a central ditch like depression? yep. however since I'm typically the driver, and since I typically am paying attention to traffic way down the road, behind me, as well as in the immediate vicinity, watching out for deer or other vermin in rural areas and such, I never paused to count the number of rows, strands, posts, reflectors and such - and even if I had the notion to be OCD to do so, I'm not sure I have the rainman type mentality to not only file it in memory, but ability to retrieve it on demand.

*shrug*

No, the accident after the pot hole is what kills.

Nhtsa says a 100,000 accidents a year are caused by potholes. Serious accidents.com says many, many wrongfull deaths are caused each year by pot holes.

Those were the first two things that poped up in my exstensive 45 second search.

I dont understand why some sections have one set and others have one on each side.

There seems to be no ryme or reason. I dont see any difference in the diamiter of the cables or the poles holding them.

How many places are there cables on both sides of the median?
Serious question because I don't remember seeing them in use on both sides at the same time.
Im sure he can think I was just taking my turn being a dick.

Around GR where I live they are on both sides all over.
