Hypocrits? Seriously, if it was a sunny day with drive pavement I might agree.

Wet roads? It was fucking snowing and sleeting. Most of the day. Not only was I right in that area at damn near the same time, I unintentionally fishtailed my pickup truck at about half throttle on the same entrance ramp earlier in the day NOT FUCKING around. I can ONLY imagine the loss of traction associated with a viper in comparison to a 300 hp slug that weighs twice as much.

Vipers are not hard to drive, but a butthole behind the wheel isn't a good combo

As mr. green said, thankfully they got the viper and did their job.

Agreed.

Although I don't feel sad for him, I do feel sad for his family.

We were on SB 23 and saw that also with emergency vehicles. Traffic backup wasn't bad yet so it must have been around the same time you were there.

Yes we got off at m59 and took old 23 over and luckily I could only see it through the trees and across the freeway because it looked really bad.

From a creditable source the ecm was pulled and showed that launch mode was activated and at time of crash was doing over 100mph. Would explain why he was pulled over...

Epic fail on his part. Too bad he didn't think about how much his family would miss him before he attempted that shit.

If what is said is true that he had launch assist on and given the weather conditions, then I agree. Glad he didn't wipe out someone else in the process.

My wife drives that route most days. I'm sure there are many others like me that have a loved one that drives that route. I can't imagine how pissed I would be if he had collected her on the way to the guard rail.

Completely pointless.

Isn't that why they have their testing grounds? So that they can do this stuff without the fear of killing themselves or other people?

As Kerry said we were coming through this area right after it happened. Got passed by the accident investigator Tahoe a few miles before and traffic had only started to back up north bound to the point where we were able to get off at 59 and take old 23 to BigB's place.

On the way back south it was free sailing, car was still in the median and they had all sorts of shit going on in the northbound lanes, investigating I would assume.

The weather was fucking sketchy all day. Rain, snow, wet roads, lots of people out and about. Nothing about that day says, "Hey lets go see what the Viper can do." Also if memory serves, that on ramp is a little short, uphill, and kinda blind as to what you could be pulling up into....specially at 100mph, right? Just looking at the Google street view halfway up the ramp, looking to the left, it appears as though there might be a car in the far lane hidden by the guard rail. Meh, either way that doesn't matter.

Assuming it was something irresponsible and not medical, which sounds like it was, all I can say is I'm sorry for his family and glad he didn't take anyone else with him. To me that is no different than drunk driving or improper handling of a firearm. Everything in life has responsibilities followed with consequences. Like I said, I'm glad he only took himself out and those cables did their job.

I would hope not on a public road like that.

That entrance ramp is "busy" it merges 3 lanes into one off m-59, you're typically in the 60-70 mph range by the time you merge if you want to be, the ramp is long enough, but like you said, entering at 100 mph could be real tricky.

Like I said earlier, terrible conditions, no fucks given at all.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hypocrite

no. they simply are stating that he paid the consequences of his actions - maybe they said it "harshly" but this country is too fucking politically correct most of the time anyway.. in my quick perusal of the thread they aren't stating that they wouldn't have it coming to them if they themselves did the same thing, so they are by the technical definition NOT being hypocrites. nor are they being "idiots" as they are technically correct/accurate - he paid for the consequences of his actions. the politically correct crowd may feel they're being insensitive, but in the immortal words of George Carlin: "fuck 'em"

as for "doing the same thing" - I turned 44 Saturday. Spent my birthday in a funeral home. Saw a man broken over the death of his 12 year old. I saw countless classmates of that 12 year old broken over the death of their classmates. I'm a parent. I have responsibilities.

I do, and have driven "spirited" and I do have a high quality radar detector, and I am a member of the Deputy Sheriff's Association for the meager benefits it has provided (no I am not, and have not been directly employed in law enforcement, and yes I have gotten tickets that I have had to pay).

With all of the above in mind, count me as "one of the few" that would not "drive the shit out of that car in the wet/sleet" on a public road.

Track time is cheap enough these days, and honestly knowing my own driving limitations I can probably have 3x the fun in a shifter cart on a small track than I would driving a company car like an irresponsible frosted window-licker, during rush hour, on a public road, in poor weather conditions.

I have a very credible source that states he was indeed driving like a ass. Multiple witnesses
