Default First fatal Viper ZD crash

Suckage. Thought I had heard a statistic that every previous generation Viper had around a 25% total rate.

Ouchie!

I dated a girl who's dad had his viper privilages suppended because he downshifted on a wet road and the back end slammed into a parked car

Those things have tires that are big enough to get you going really fast before they let go and KILL YOU!! God Bless

So that explains why I was stuck in traffic on 23 that day. I didn't see any vehicles there by the time I got through.

first reports were a possible medical condition caused this crash, now this says a full throttle acceleration....

It was raining, sleeting, and snowing on and off during the time of this crash. If he was hot rodding a viper in that kind of weather he deserved to die. I hope the early reports of a medical condition are more accurate. As a long time engineer and higher level employee at Chrysler, I would hope he had more respect for a Viper than that.

Sorry for the loss of life. Definitely a car you have to respect.

"Early reports indicated the Viper had manufacturer plates." <-- nothing but trouble here. Hate to see a guy hurt himself in a company vehicle.

I heard rumors that they were supposed to be adding traction control on the new vipers, guess they still need a little more work on that.

Wasn't that part of a new federal law?

I knew those cables would get someone sooner or later, whether it be a bike or car.

Yup, I agree with you, they did their job. Got that guy and kept him from killing the people in the oncoming traffic.

Agree completely.

Everyone seems to bitch about the cables. Below is a picture of a wreck I passed last year on I75 near Findlay Ohio. The semi was traveling south bound and I was on the north bound side. In pretty sure the cars traveling north bound when all this went down were pretty appreciative of the cables and how they performed.

I would think the computer should show some info regarding said throttle positions. Sad to say, but Chrysler finally has some real world crash test data on them, not that I would expect a car with a bolt on roof to handle a collision that greatly to begin with.

I guess that's one less pre-production car QEK gets to crush.

We saw that right after it happened. It was sad regardless if he was being dumb or not When we went through it couldn't have been long after the accident because the police were still getting on the scene and it wasn't raining but the roads were definitely wet.

That sucks. You people claiming he had it coming are idiots/hypocrites. Yeah he clearly made a mistake hot rodding that thing in the wrong place at the wrong time, but who on here can honestly say they wouldn't be out trying to drive the shit out of a car like that, wet roads or not? Stupid sure, but very few people wouldn't have done it. Bad luck just as much as bad judgement I'd say.

With the manufacturer plate and a chrysler guy in it I wonder if it could be a test car and he was working on the traction control in thr rain.

No one who has driven any gen viper on dry pavement would atempt a full throttle blast in the rain unleas they were an idiot, or one hell of a driver. They are scary fast but not a easy car to control.

No it isn't. it's perfectly unsad if he was being an idiot.
