other than being a rough ride is there any reason this wouldn't work on a 1500?

1500's are IFS, unless you're talking 1500 Mega Cab. Those are basically a 2500 chassis/suspension. It should work on a 1500 Mega just fine.

Ive heard that parts are the same to a secomd gen 2500 do you by chance know any truth to that?

Coils, control arms, and pitman arm should work..or so I was told. The track-bar mount will be different I believe.
