Default Job offer advice...... HELP!

Here's the skinny; I was just offered a job but I'm not 100% sure on taking it. My problem isn't the job its the fear of being shackled to a position and then having to pass on better ones due to being contract.

Is this the first concrete offer I have been given: yes it is, I even got them to bump my pay 2 bucks an hour more then their first offer.

Do I have other interviews planned: yes but you never know if they will offer me a position.

I'd hate to accept something only to have something better pop up a month later and hop to that, I think that would look like I'm only doing this temporarily till something comes around.

That be my problem, halp!

Take the job. If a better position should come up and it is even better show up at your current job wearing what you wore that one year at the halloween party.

Gotta do what's best for you. I would go with your gut, I have worked to many jobs that I tried to tell myself I wanted to do. If it pays the bills and you are happy then go for it. If you urge to do more, then I would wait if you risk breaking a contract.

x3

at your age and new in the business, you would be better off doing a few years of various contract jobs.

Then try getting in direct with a higher salary and experience down the road.

Congrats on the new job.

This is when he says "Thank you everyone for giving me the advice on taking the job that has been offered. I have decided that I am not going to take it as I am going to wait for a management position."

If you had taken the job with Zeiss that everyone told you to take a couple years ago would you still be employed there?

The Zeiss job was a lot of traveling and training people. Scary to think I would be educating people how to do something.

Green I don't want a management position, just wanna be a CEO actually all I want is a engineering position where its a dynamic working environment, I discovered with my last job I really like solving problems; be they manufacturing, development or implementation issues.

I would just hate to come off accepting one offer to then turn around a few weeks or months later and accept another. I professionally think that would look horrible but what if a better offer never comes. Those mind games can be disastrous. Damned it I do and damned if I don't.

Have you figured out how to solve the problem of getting your jeep back on the road?

Who cares if another job offer comes a few months down the road and you take it? You go to work for one reason.............. to make money. Liking your job is a perk.

Well throwing caution to the wind I just accepted the offer. If something else pans out I will cross that road when I get there. Back to Chrysler I guess lol.

If you don't have one picked out and a mortgage approval it will probably be more than a few months.
