$13k for a 98 thats pretty good, I didn't realize they were still buying them back. No rust on this one at all, maybe I should take it to them and see what they say a good framed yota would bring? Ha

If they are still buying them back, I would call and make an appointment ASAP. A buddy of mine had a newer Tacoma (2000+) that was in mint condition. Not a spec of rust on the entire thing, and his failed.

I believe the frame rot takes place inside the frame, not on the outside. So, the frame could look perfect, but it isn't.

You have to have owned it for at least a year to get the $$$ but the payout is good. A lot of times with the 2000-04's they will replace the frame. Mine was coated.
Is it a 4WD Taco? You didn't state it anywhere. I know the Prerunner Tacos are popular out west.

actually you only have to own the truck for 6 months before they will let you turn it in on recall. I transferred mine into my name last july from my fathers name and they are taking it no questions ask

You are right about the rotting, mine started flaking from th inside out. the outside had been undercoated twice but it still rotted through

Wow that's good news I appreciate all the info. It is a 4 x 4 not pre runner. Where do you take it any local yota dealer? If they say yes anyone got any cheap rims and tires hate to give them the new ones. Thanks first post for me and everyone is a bunch of help.

yea any local toyota dealer. I swapped my wheels and tires for some cheapos too before I took it in. They let me drive it home because it was safe enough to drive and called me about it 2 days later telling me they were going to buy it back

4Runners were all made in Japan so they didn't get the crappy Dana frames.

I got a set of 32x11.50 mud tires on black steelies you can have for $250 if you need them.

I took truck up north this winter with canoes on top and got around 20 mpg so good fuel economy with 4x4. Any interest, it is an SR-5 has sunroof, 4x4, lift kit, air adjust shocks, two different tire options, optional yakima boat rack, stereo system, etc.

Any interest?
