Default gl4x4 peoples court opinions

my neighbor backed into the wifes 2006 chevy trailblazer on sat when it was parked in street. cops came out gave neighbor a ticket since it was parked and i thought that was that. called my insurance on monday and since it was parked they said i dont go through them i have to call his insurance. ok so i did and made a report and waited for a claims agent. they called me today and said they wanted to let me know his insurance had expired. so far the neighbor has been very nice and says he is sorry so i gave him a chance to explain, he said it was a mastake and they would fix it. well his insurance says its no mastake.

here is were i am at.

a. turn into my insurance and hope it dosnt go up again since lucky me got rearended 3 times last year and had to change insurance since i was "HIGH RISK" lol none were my fault. tickets were issued but my insurance doubled anyway.

b. neighbor has a family member who has a high end repair shop that he said would fix it no prob and he would take care of it without insurance involved. the name of shop is eastern auto in southfield but i really dont know much about them and i am very leary of this.

c pay for the $1,600 in damage to car and take to small claims and hope to get it back someday.

what would u guys/girls do i really havent had anything like this before and i somehow always end up being screwed. thanks for taking time to read this long page and sorry for that.

Suprise buttsecks his wife while he is watching. Then let his family fix it and never pay the bill.

I just went thru exactly this. My Jeep was parked and someone slid on the slush taking out all the mailboxes I was parked next to and my Jeep caught everything taking out a tail light and twisting the bumper. I went to my insurance company, got 2 repair estimates and the police report and they handled the other guys insurance after I gave them copys of everything. I got a check from the guys insurance company for the estimate amount. All is well and fixed.

You own or rent? How hards it gonna be to move away after a small claims deal, turns into a neighborly feud? The butt secks wife option may be better as long as she's not honeybooboo's mom. Good luck.

i just dont want wifes clean extreamly well taken care of car to turn into a bondo buggy. my bigest fear. the damage is mainly the rear bumper being replaces and he flattened the wheel well opening and fender flare just above the bumper. it dosnt look that bad but the bumper is $500 alone plus paint and dealer says window needs to be removed to blend paint

I would talk to said family member and personaly explain your concern that the car is fixed correctly. If you like the look of the shop and the repairs they are doing, let them fix it. It's the best chance for a no ending imo.

I am in Clawson and do collision work. You can bring it to me for an estimate and repairs if you want. I have done work for people on here and have pictures of my work including some of my own cars that I have repaired.

You will probably have to fix it yourself or use your own insurance and if you want take the neighbor to court to recoup the costs.

B, won't be fixed right, it'll be okay if your lucky, but he's gonna half a$$ it and more problems after it's done.

Go with C, Get estimates from shops you would trust to do it, and have him pay up front, or small claims court later.

I would not deal with small claims court for that little bit of money. You pay for insurance for a reason. Turn it in and be done with it. It was not your fault.
