Maybe not a hardkore rig, but this would be awesome for trails and a bit of crazyness.

I wonder if a gen III/IV LS engine would fit

I love my 88 whale, and it not near as bulky on the trails as you might think.

Some good ideas here. I like the vans and such.

Checked out a friend's Expedition today, and it is layed out the same as my Excursion, in fact it uses the same seats. However the body is about six inches narrower and a good three feet shorter. So one of those could work.

I'm also tossing around the idea of outfitting the Excursion and not doing the real hardcore stuff with it. I do think it would be fun.

Any way you slice it, my group isn't ready for two rigs (no second driver) so I'm still thinking what would be best. Ideally something that could sit four rows of two in a long but semi narrow rig would be ideal.

http://flint.craigslist.org/cto/3629087345.html

Id buy this one its only 3 grand. E250 4x4 van. Main problems are its 100% rust with a light coating of paint and needs an interior. I checked it out a week or so ago and needless to say was not at all impressed with the quality of a Quigley 4x4 conversion.

Its far cheaper it buy whatever Ford E series van (150-450) and convert it to 4x4 yourself. Can be done for about 5 grand. Just think an off road conversion van

Alright I'm bumping this thread:

1. To the early haters in this thread, the girl and I are still going strong.

2. I have taken her on a few trips and now Gitchee Gumee. She loves it and is quickly learning everything she can.

3. All I heard on the way home from Gitchee Gumee was ideas for us to drag the whole crew. We talked buggies, two rigs, vans, trars, etc. and the same today. She has a strong comprehension of wheelbase, approach and departure angle, and has come up with some wild ideas.

I think I got me a good one!

My sister has a 4x4 Suburban for sale (2001 I think). It has over 8k in body work done recently and she blew the engine. I think there is a small dent where she got backed into after the work was done. It was fully loaded with leather and three row seating (drivers seat ripped)

I don't think the truck has a spot of rust on it.
