Default OBD Phone Scanner

What are your thoughts on the OBD DTC Scanners that plug in and send the information to the App on your bluetooth phone? Anyone have any experience with these? I'm sick of dealing with the stupid fucks at autozone that try and tell me how to fix shit when they run a light. I want something that will pull abs codes as well. What do you guys have?

This is what im talking about

I thought about something like that. Have you used it for a while now? Hold up well?

It's done pretty well, used it for 2008 Land Rover LR2, and loaned it out for a friend to use on a Mini Cooper so it works on the "stranger" vehicles. Works well to reset codes just before trading vehicle in at dealer

Bluetooth looks like a neat idea, just didn't want to "fart with it" for whatever reason. Rather have a "physical" scanner in hand.

I have one. I downloaded the torque app. and have used it on
2003 Ram 1500
2004 Trailblazer
1999 Passat
2000 Lincoln Town car
1998 XJ

I don't recall ever having it not work when I tried it.

This is the one I have

Yup, works so good I purchased the paid version. There is so much support for it, and so much more you can do if you can look up the correct codes and create your own gauges and stuff.

For Example, on a Ford F350 6.0 I made a profile and custom gauges to read temps across the oil cooler. This shows if your cooler is having a large enough temp difference (between oil and coolant temps) to cause a wrench light.

There's so much more you can do with it.

One reason I went back to an Android Phone. Can't do this with an IPhone. That I know of anyways, maybe that's changed within the last year. But IPhone does not allow blue tooth data.

Haven't needed to run ABS codes, so not sure on that part. Used it for "loose gas cap" type crap......

It does not run ABS codes. but I believe that has to do with the torque app.
I could be wrong, but I was told by a mechanic that most of the lower cost scanners will not run and codes. He told me I needed a "real scanner" for that.

I bought one from matco. It's a launch brand. Bluetooth. It's nice. For $50 it's a basic odb reader. You can add on for more money all the brand specific scan abilities. It does graphing and testing as well as code reading. I purchased the gm and dodge brand for abs, airbag, chassis diagnosis. I love it.

I have the torque app with all the add ons and a cheap Bluetooth adapter from amazon. It kicks ass for simple code reads and some data.
