Talking Corr style trucks in rally

So i have been throwing this idea around for a while and wanted to see if anyone has done this. Bogging is fun but i need something with a bigger adrenaline rush. i have a ton of questions like how to get started, best class and best truck to start with.

My 95 XJ Country did just fine as a stadium truck
I do highly recommend a roll cage though

That's not good news, i wanna spend around 5k putting something together. Bogging and playing on the rocks isnt that thrilling anymore. Need something faster.

My xj has a stroker so it is faster than most I honestly believe you can have such a truck with about 5k I was running bilsteins 7100 series shocks which the valving can be changed to desired terrain use.

its called TREC and they do it at the badlands and you aren't racing anything like that for 5K...you might be able to get four shocks for that price though

we all have to start some place. I emailed the SCCA and asked if trucks where restricted since their is no rule i can find that restrict them.

if you start with more than 5K there is a chance that you might be able to race, you start with 5K or less the only thing you do is become a trail tampon

you do realize that 5k wont even build a rear axle in a CORR truck.

Btw, if you want to go rally racing build a rally car. You are off to a bad start to begin with. I think you hit your head a long time ago. Do you want to buy a snow mobile to go jet ski racing too? Do you use mayonaise in place of sour cream? Do you use donuts in place of hamburger buns? I know all of these are good ideas, but it takes a special person to follow thru with it.

I just looked at the numbers and if my math is right I think he could pull this off. Start with a decent platform to build off of like a s10 or a toyota. He could build a sleeper motor like a 4.7 stroker, destroked to 4.0 to put some good power to the ground. You can get used BFGs off craiglist all day long, and I know people sell shocks on there. I'd run black pipe for the roll cage, its the same as DOM without the price tag and it's measured in ID not OD. I'd run superduty brakes which you can pick up from a junk yard for cheap and that thing would stop on a dime.

And just what experience do you have? You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

Thats what i am talking about, building a corr style truck. I have been looking into the s10's, and that is the platform i am leaning towards. I dont need it to be as built as a corr truck but, i know their will be some cost involved. i do know that it wouldnt be the worst vehicle on the course. And for the guy's saying to buy a subaru, why would i wanna run the same car as everyone else.

something around these lines
