A PLAN TO PROTECT OUR AUTOMAKERS AND EMPLOYEES

When I am elected to the U.S. Senate, the first bill I will introduce will be my plan to protect automakers from lawsuits that could literally run them out of business.

Right now the big three automakers face a lawsuit from California’s Attorney General that seeks reparations for the impact of emissions on global warming and the California state infrastructure.

My plan, the “Triple A” Act (American Automakers and Autoworkers Protection Act), would stop frivolous lawsuits against auto manufacturers and their suppliers if their cars meet federal emissions standards at the time the car is sold. The bill would also dismiss all such pending lawsuits, pre-empt state law so that states cannot sue the auto industry in state court, and protect employees of automobile manufacturers from liability and frivolous lawsuits.

California’s lawsuit comes despite the fact that our automakers already comply with numerous federal and state guidelines for fuel efficiency and vehicle emissions.

My opponent will not stand up to the left-wing environmental groups and her backers in the California elite, but I will not allow more jobs to leave our state because frivolous lawsuits and heavy-handed bureaucratic regulation make it hard to do business in Michigan.

It would be funny if the big three just stopped selling cars in California...but they'd probably get sued for that too.

Nobody would notice (well, except truck buyers).

In Sacramento and San Francisco the city/county uses Toyota pickups.

A buddy in Sacramento was told he couldn't park his Dodge company car outside because it made it look "like a social worker was in the neighborhood" because only the government would buy Dodge Stratuses (Strati?).

The CA state police had to buy Toyotas, Nissans, Hondas, and Hyundais because american cars made them stand out in plainclothes situations.
