One of the two men to be the first to legally marry in Michigan (thanks to the Little Traverse Bay of Odawa Indians for recognizing gay marriage) is a good friend of mine. He and his husband had been partners for over 30 years before getting married. They are both retired from the Navy, having served for this country and during a time in which the thought of being gay and in the military was impossible. The reality is their marriage has done nothing to affect your marriage, your religion, your state or your country. They have been able to do something that every person should have the right to do.
Marriage was not created by God for procreation. It was created by man to keep women from straying from the home. All religions have a marriage ceremony and all religions at one point or another allowed for plural marriage, the marriage of underage girls, the required marriage of girls that were raped and the list goes on.
Marriage in this country changed with Victorian society, when the US and Western Europe started to question the moral decisions that were being made in the late 19th Century, out of a fear of God. Prior to that, marriage was simply a ceremony that demonstrated the loyalty of two people (man and woman at the time) to each other. In addition, divorce was not an issue because marriage didn't last as long as it does today (on average). Women died during childbirth, men died at work or on the farm and a new wedding took place, often times in less than 10 years.
In the end, a man marrying a man or a woman marrying a woman will do nothing to affect your every day life. Unless it means you have to attend more weddings and eat more cake...

As long as you contribute to society I don't give a shit what you do in your free time.

Instead of trying to get the government to recognize gay marriage how about we just get government out of the business of marriage all together... Problem solved.

What I do have a problem with is that if you are not pro-gay you are considered a hateful, close minded bigot.

I'm not reading 12 pages about this, but I noticed none of my gay facebook friends have an equal sign on their page.

Attention seeking bandwagon trotters do.

As for whatever you want to call it, marriage, civil union, unicorn bonding, whatever, I just feel it should be equal, and called the same, for all.
Maybe just maybe they were born that way and they are misunderstood. We should treat them as equal and allow them to continue with what their desires are. Allow them to marry thier own victims because just 1 will not be enough.
You making the claim, "they were born that way", does not hold water.

I noticed the same. I'm friends with a gay couple, neither of them changed their pics. All my libtard, hippie, straight friends did though.

Exactly half of my openly gay friends do have it up. The other half have either not, or have posted things like "thank you for the support"

I agree whole heartedly that the government needs to get out of the marriage business. Personally I do not think anyone is hateful or close minded for not being pro-gay. I only think they are if they call names or voice opinions that gays are immoral, or wrong for living how they do. There is nothing wrong with being neutral on the subject.

Like I said earlier, they have never found a gay gene and never will. Just because the gay says he feels like a woman doesn't mean he is. He may feel he is attracted to other men only because there is a desire for that same sax attraction.
Maybe with your infinite wisdom you could start looking for that gay gene and prove to all of us that its not there. If it was you would have been taught that in 9th grade science.

I doubt it's a gene, it sounds more hormonal.

I agree with you

"if you don't stand something you'll fall anything" Before we know it, it will be legal to marry livestock and animals so they can get the same benefits "life partners"

To me:

"I do not agree with gays", "I think being gay is wrong", "I think gay goes against the Bible", etc... = perfectly ok

"Faggot cock sucker I'm going to drag your homo ass behind my pick up truck" = bad, very bad

my gay friends (a couple now) know me well, and have for 20 years.
i knew them for many, many years b4 i knew they were gay/a couple(my gaydar dont work). they have heard my horrible gay jokes as a younger, drunker man(very embarrassing now). im positive i had called them a "sexual slur" in the past. my friend jason is a big guy, and could easily crush me. he is a very masculine guy, and has heard every possible gay slur/term there is, often from his friends. he was a high school football player, the locker room is big on gay slurs.

we discussed gay marriage at our halloween/euchre tournament. he knows i dont support gay marriage. i dont have any problem with steve and jason living together. thats a personal choice they made, and is none of my buisness. i wish them all the best! that still dont make it a marriage.

im sure he does not share my opinion of gay marriage. he knows that opinion is widely held by most of his closest friends.
I have a gay friend named Jason also. We call him gay-jay and he doesn't mind.

This is where the socially liberal part of me kicks in.

I don't give a shit. The sanctity of marriage is gone. Do I want to see two dudes kissing in public? No. (Girls, fuck yeah I do) but I don't want to see any PDA in public. I have two young kids and I don't care if they see it either.

I believe people committed to each other are more stable and make a better society. Who gives a shit if they go home and play tummystix until someones butthole hurts.

Since two twats or two sausages can't reproduce often they adopt children and get them out of the system. I'm good with that too. It's much better than having children in the system.

Plus two dudes usually help with property values, I mean just look at Ferndale. They have FABULOUS houses.
