So with my initial investment of $20 USD, what does that equal into bitcoins?

From my view, it's like a new way of investing money, but also having the ability to buy/trade/sell goods at the same time.

The only problem I see, like you said, is the volatility of the market. I guess with the market starting to stabilize, it might be a good time to jump in on it.

I'm thinking of trying it out with $20 like you said previously. My best bet would be LTC, not BTC? Is it because LTC is for budget ballers?

To be honest, most people are stupid.

If you would buy LTC, you would have 5 LTC's

if you would buy BTC, you would have .07 of a BTC

To most people, they would rather have 5 of something than a fraction of another, so I'm wagering LTC becomes popular because of it's cost vs BTC.

I have no advice on what to buy, you will probably lose money on either, so give it a shot.

Follow this chart:
https://btc-e.com/exchange/ltc_btc

That is LTC vs BTC. If it breaks out of .013 - .015, that means one of the currencies is doing better than the other.

I'll be the first to admit it seems over my head. I've never done individual trading as most of my investments are either in hard IRA's or my 401K. Years ago I tried being smart and buying some stocks I thought made sense and ended up losing my ass so I decided to leave it in mutual funds and let the experts at Schwaab (or whoever is the account manager) do it for me. I'm also at the age where I need to take fewer risks.

I'm very much interested in throwing $20-100 at this. To keep your transactions anonymous, how do you set up an account? Do you have a user name like CC or what? What if I just want to throw some money in to see if it grows and I don't want to actually trade with it? Do I purchase with a credit card, paypal or what?

it's stored in a paper wallet, an online wallet, or a computer wallet. Or you can just leave it in a market account.

If I want to buy LTC, I transfer BTC from my wallet to the exhange, make my purchase, then transfer the LTC to my wallet.

If I want to deposit $1000 in USD to buy BTC, I transfer the cash to my trading account, buy BTC, then transfer BTC to my wallet.

What are you using for your trading account? This is where I get confused, I setup an account using BTC-e but I cant add any money to buy LTC?

You have to fund your trading account!

You can fund it from cash deposit, or transferring from a BTC wallet.

If you are looking to buy under $5k, send me a pm, and I can work something out with you via paypal so you don't have to wait for the deposit to go through. Normally it's a four day wait.

BTC @ $340 on heavy volume. LTC tinkering @ $4.60, still painting a .14 spread.

I'm not sure how long this will continue, I want to get out, but I don't think I will.

I started reading up on it yesterday. Lots to absorb unless I dive in stupidly. I'm trying to understand the "mining" and how all that is supposed to regulate the system.

You gonna get it with it so high?

Didn't you buy in when it was under $100?

I am not buying any more. I started buying at $34.

I moved 50% of my BTC into LTC, they have mirrored each other. LTC has been worth .0113 of a bitcoin. I expect LTC will either gain ground or lose ground on BTC before the end of the year. Hopefully it pushes higher.

I'm hoping to "double down", well, actually 100000% down on LTC...

BTC is HUGE in china right now. That is what is driving this price up.

I also saw a photo of a farmer in eastern market selling pumpkins who had a QR code accepting BTC for his pumpkins. They are becoming legit for commerce.

There are numerous places starting to accept bitcoin as payment. It's not that difficult to understand.
