I think this is a short term issue until gox figures it's shit out. I think the market has priced in the collapse of gox, probably sitting on the bottom right now.

"A major bitcoin exchange has gone bust after secretly racking up catastrophic losses, other virtual currency companies said Tuesday — a potentially fatal blow for the exotic new form of money."

This may be the end that CC was planning on sticking it out for so he could lose all the money he made.

Probably. Sucks for the companies that accept it. I'm sure they are taking the biggest hit right now.

They are not taking any hit at all.

99% of companies that accept BTC immediately hedge it to the US dollar via bitpay, or a service like that. There is no risk to the company at all.

Unless the exchange service they use goes belly up.

That makes sense. I didn't know how long the wait was that they converted to US monies. I guess for being a business, they would want to do it right away due to the chance of something like a market drop could happen anytime.

Bitpay and coinbase pay within 48 hours which is incredible. That is about 3 days quicker than most credit card processing companies.

So the business receives the USD equivalent for the product they sold, they have zero risk of the order being fraud lent (since it is non reversible), and the transaction fee is .1% compared to credit card companies 2.7% - 3.8%.

There is no reason for a business NOT to accept bitcoin or litecoin.
