Default hydro ram length

Ok so i have a waggy dana 44 with about 7.75 inches of throw in the steering. Do i need to use an 8 inch ram or could i use a 12inch throw as i have access to one for very cheap, or would this cause problems this is for assist also not full hydro. If i understand the system correctly it will work as far as i can see just wondering if i am way off base. thanks for any help

8" would be best 12" might be hard to mount. 12" is way to much travel, it would slam the stops every time you over turn.

^What he said. If you use too log of a ram, 1. It's a PITA to get mounted. 2. you could very easily snap other components. Those things have a ton of force.
